seafoam............check engine light on!
well today i did the seafoam trick to my engine. i fed the seafoam through the pcv line and into the manifold. i used about half of the seafoam and what not. i sucked it all in and let it sit for an hour nad a half. i drove around two a few times and everything was okay. three or four starts after the seafoam my check engine light came on. once i saw the light i was heated. i dont know why it came on and what not. any thoughts as to what could have caused it to come on?

seafoam does that 90% of the time you use it on your car, just disconnect your positive battery terminal for a minute or so to clear it and it shouldnt come back on

damn. that sucks. maybe cleaning out and freeing that loose carbon might've revealed some leaks... drive it around a bit more and see what happens... That or wait for someone who's done the seafom to their car to respond..
either way good luck and I hope its nothing serious.

Wow, you put more than needed through it, but I would imagine the CEL is coinsidential. You may have a vacume leak from a loose pcv fitting, or some other fault. What code is the computer showing you?

the original honda-tecdh thread said to put between 1/2 and 3/4 of the bottle and i put less than half. all the vacuum lines are cool. im going to disconnect the battery in a little bit and check all the wiring and stuff. what is the CEL ajtcl referred to? i had read about too much hurting the cat but i dont think i put that put and a little of it got spilled so that makes even more better.
the only thing they did for the emissions recall was change the plugs, wires, cap, and oil change.

that was me that said the bit about the catlyst..the directions say to use 1/3rd of a bottle. did you have the code checked out yet. it could be a misfire, or bank 1 o2 sensor out of range. eather way just reset the light and it should be aiit.

Just reset your ecu, if the light still comes on, reconnect your PCV connections, just to make sure.

Its just an easy way to determine a real problem. If it comes back on within a couple days, then you have a problem.

i dont understand why there is a question here, just pull the code, and reset it, then if it comes back pull it again and you will know what the issue is

Maybe he didnt notice the other 10 threads/replies where people all stated that Seafoam caused the CEL to come on when they used it- lol. I'm guessing it's just a sensor detecting something it shouldnt. Happens to me every time I use it, but I just reset the ecu and have had no problems because of this product. Just like Cocoa said- just stay close to the amount the bottle indicates to use and it wont harm your car.

i got the codes checked out today and the heater on my front o2 sensor isnt working. i have to get a new sensor-which kinda sucks because you can't just replace the heater. we dont really know what caused it to go bad.
is 27 the front oxygen sensor in this link. it only specifys the rear and the other o2 sensor isn't specified.
my mechanic told me you need a special wrench to remove the sesor, is this true? he said you can't stick a normal wrench in there to remove the sensor.
