safc install question

Surly sum1 knows the ecu on the 97 acura cl 2.2.I went to the dealership today for the repair manual and they told me to order it from Helminc.com.Blows my mind........but anyway,im having a shop install a turbo on my car.I thought i could cut sum cost by having the intercooler piping done myself from burnsstainless and more recently purchased a brand new apexi safc2 off ebay.It seems apexi has never installed 1 on a cl.I had local mechanic shops give me printouts of the ecu or ecm terminal arrangement drawings from their hondata software but dosent seem to match my pins and its not in english,ie.(tdc)etc..These are the 6 things needed on the ecm to make it work:rpm,ig power, ground, pressure signal, throttle signal, and knocking signal if it applies to this car,not sure. The manual for the f22b1 is a must but thought sum1 here might have installed a Super Air Fuel Converter II

i have a VAFC on my car

i think that would work better for your car since you have VTEC in the CL

my 400hp civic friend told me to get this, this is what u need when in fact its never even been tested on a cl,lol. But i could resell it at a loss or try to make it work and later get a vtec controller.Did you install yours or sum1 else do?cause yours should only have 1 or 2 extra wires, but should basically be the same for mine.maybe u know color to color wire scheme

well guys it seems that none of us know what were talking about. After further investigating vafc=3.0 motor 6 cylinder,safc=2.2 motor 4 cylinder, turbo, external wastegate, blowoff. My friend was right and we were wrong but he got lucky, lol.Apex claims on their website that vafc wont work on the honda accord(my f22b1 motor) because it "incorporates a slightly different method of vtec control causing the engine to hesitate at aprox.5000 rpm when the vtec engagement point is changed. The vtec afc will work on 6cyl accords."But after calling apexi (sales guy nodoubt) he too recomended vafc.
Its apparent that no one has done this so i have orded the $100 dollar acura manuals and will post pics of what i do to make it work.Perhaps i could call apexi so that the cl will be listed under safc manuals for future turbo-ers of the cl 2.2........that is if it works?

You were misinformed. The difference between a vafc and an safc is that one has a vtec controller integrated into the unit. The vafc will work on any car equipped with vtec.

sup wil thought it was u.TurboCL is just a myth.Still waiting for shop to take my car.I was like next in line 2 months ago.The manifold and downpipe should b built now.Ive polised aluminum like chrome.I hope it turns headz.H2 seems close with 3 rows of pins unlike all others but im still not confident.I'll take another look wit these diagrams. But i might wait for the manual.Didnt know about all that obd2 stuff.good looking out

the vafc will work on any car with vtec except the honda accord f22b1 inwhich has the same motor as my cl.Perhaps your right and apexi is wrong. But still even if it works does it work correctly.Earlier was a quote from apexi-usa.com QandA.

I think you better invest in some better engine management than a safc/vafc. Turbo car's need to be finely tuned for relyabilty the vafc or safc just wont cut it. I would look into a emanage system with boost option.
