rotor question

anybody know about rotors that have the black zinc plating? will this rub off and eventually look silver anyway, or should i just get regular gold zinc plating. any feedback will help. thanks peeps.

well I had the gold zinc ones on an integra and they warp no matter if you take it easy or not. They were also cross drilled though. I don't think they are that good of an idea(IMO)

I am assuming when you say "warp" you mean rub off. Because rotors will not warp no matter what, although zinc plating will wear off no matter what.

yeah, i dont think warping will be an issue with everyday driving, but i like the way the black zinc rotors look and i wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with them because the seller tells me the black wont rub off, but he'll tell me anything for me to buy them.

yes sir I do mean warp. I got a set of brembo crossed drilled for my teg. After babying it for a few days I continued my every day driving( with a few races) and about a week after installation they began to pulsate. I was pissed. After talking to a different mechanic he says that the gases are supposed to escape with crossed drilled rotors but they really don't. they build up and cause tremendous heat. ie warping.
but it could be different ones, or I could be mistaken

I mean I know they use them on race cars so maybe I missunderstood. but on his advise I changed back to regular brembos and I have not had that problem since.

rotors warp all the time. i have yet to not warp a set of rotors on my car. so far my x-drilled and slotttted setup seem to be holding up. one hard stop from 90 and u can warp a rotor instantly. especially if when they are installed the bolts aren't torqued equally. i have had to change my rotors once a year.

I've never warped a rotor... I don't think. though that might be why the braking feels kinda weird now....

just spoke to that mechanic and I guess it does release the gas, but that is what causes more heat. more friction, more heat, and warping. on the other side, the build up of gas is what causes brake fade on regular rotors. so go figure.my
