Remote Turn On

I am installing an amp and subs in my 1999 2.3CL and I noticed that on the back of the stock head unit there is no place to put the remote turn on/off wire. What do I do?? Also, I was assuming that with this remote turn on feature it would eliminate the problem of the amp draining the battery when the car is off. Is this true?

Well if you have the stock bose system i would get a wiring diagram and find where the stock remote turn on is. If not i suggest running a switch to it. The amp will not drain the battery unless its under a load. Before all the old soundstream amps had no remote turn ons. The main reason for the remote turn on is to turn the amp on after initial powerup to protect speakers from being blown due to signal goin to the speakers during inital powerup from the head unit. Its basically a protection feature but i would run one just incase. Also another idea if you do not have the bose system is to use a relay connected to the ignition on the stock harness so everytime the headunit turns on the amp does.

If there is no stock remote wire, you can hook it to the switched acc power. does the same thing.

only if you want the amp to be on when you listen to the radio. Most decks power down the antenna when the cd player is selected.

Since you're keeping the stock radio for you system, did you find out how you're gonna get signal into your amp?

Use the yellow with white stripe/rings, at the amp for our turn on lead.

I use the fuse for the radio as the turn on, it stays on all the time normally, but I have a switch hooked up to it so I can turn the amp off if I want to.

I just tapped into the back speaker wires to get signal to the amp, and yes it sounds fine.

yes, that can be done, but not all amps have high level input, if his has it then he can do the same thing!
