RainX on head lights

Has anyone tried Rain-X on their headlight covers. I called the company and they gave the standard "try in a small area" and see what happens.

I'd think that it would help protect the plastic against bug juice etc, IF it didn't harm the plastic.

I dont think it would help, its meant to repel water, not bugs

the way that it repels water is by filling the porous surface in the glass. that way the water has nothing to cling onto so it fall off quicker. I say try it and let us know

You can just wax it and it has the same affect. That way you don't risk getting any rainX on your hood or bumper cover.

Rain x isn't an abrasive so technically you can use it on plastic, it just leaves streaks thats all.

I wouldnt recomend it. I used it on a snowmobile headlight , then I used a sticker remover to get rid of a small piece of sticker on the corner and the whole headlight looks terrible now. It has a white haze over it now.

I personally wouldn't reccomend using RainX at all because when you use your windshield wipers it'll take layers of the RainX off and when the RainX is gone your wipers won't wipe for shit.

I have used it on my lights tons of times, but basically not any different effects than using wax. RainX only lasts for a long time on glass, but i have to say, i SWEAR by the stuff!

You might want to try some plastic polish. It's a little hard to find but I think both Mouthers and Miguires makes it for polishing headlights and tail lights.
