Radar Detectors

I know this has been debated alot before but i wanted to bring this back up again. After getting my first speeding ticket last week i have decided that spending $300.00 on a radar detector would be a good investment. The problem is, i don't know if i should spend $300 on a new one at a store or spend $300 on a used one.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Bro, if you're spending more than 300 on a radar.. Trust me.. It's worth it.. I got my first ticket ever last year when I didn't have my radar in my car.. I have one that I'm thinking about getting rid of.. It's a cobra xrs 11band 9500.. It was my first radar spent about 100 and change.. You definetely get what you pay for.. The more money = the better in my book.. I'm running with an Escort Cordless Solo S2.. REALLY GOOD! That things range is serious.. Escort Radar's are rated the best.. Good Luck with whatever you get your hands on..

suprise suprise another radar thread, lol just kidding I've started at least one myself. If your spending more than 300 I would want a warranty on it. When it came down to it I got a lower model new instead of a newer model used for the same price because I wanted the warranty. Everyone is gonna tell you to get the V1 or x8500 but I got the Beltronics pro rx55...no tickets...enough said.

valentine 1 or the escort 8500x50 which i have and it is excellent. or you can get the new escort 9500 which is ridiculous with GPS in it and alot of good things. the beltronics x65 is the same thing as the escort 8500x50 since escort owns beltronics. really the only advantage to the belltronic is the voice. for $300 your best bet is the 8500x50 or beltronic.

Everyone speeds. Theres not one person that stays the exact limit throughout. It's atleast better to know theres a police officer creepin' behind that bridge when you're goin a little over then not even know.

I have the escort 8500 in blue which i love...and saved me soo many times. My brother has the Valentine 1 and its good too. the new escort looks cool, with some new features....but when it comes down to it, is what you want to look like, because they work the same. my 2 cents

i'm pretty sure the Valentine 1 is the best rated, not the Escort... As far as Car and Driver and a bunch of others are concerned...

And if I lived forever and if there was no such thing as being late, then maybe I'd consider going the speed limit.

V1 - the best $400 I've ever spent. I rarely use it now, since the RDX came aboard. Eventually, I will start to use it often.

with a $300 budget ill say X50 Red............. V1 is a good detector, but X50 is just as good if not better in alot of aspects, the biggest one is user friendliness

Ive tested both and I still have my X50 to this day, if youre looking at alot of off axis hits whether up/down or left'right than the X50 is your bet

as far as any REAL RD enthusiast is concerned there is no "best" detector, is a even fight amongst a top 3/4............... V1, X50, STI Driver, and RX-65..............

and as far as the 9500i is concerned, its 1 selling feature, the TrueLock, doesnt work well enough, it DOES lock out contacts but its frequency brackets are big enough that if the LEO and the door in question fall within the same frequency bracket, hello speeding ticket

does the radar detector have to be put on the windshield where it is visible and can sense things, or will it still work beside the shifter
