I've used the Passport 7500 for about three years and its def a good product with brightness settings, smartcord, and three different modes. I get a lot of false alarms on X band but I think that may be because I live in Boston.

i've used alot of the new ones, and I borrowed my boys 8500 on a trip to san fran to compare it to my V1

all I have to say is V1 hands down. I know it's more expensive, but honestly it pays for itself. My V1 has already saved me about a dozen times this YEAR, and i've had it for 3 now!

This subjects been argued about dozens of times on this site. Do a search on this site and you'll find a bunch of readings. I've been looking myself and it seems like the escort 8500 or the valentine one. Suppposedly the V1 is better, however, like most things, its also more expensive. Let us know which one you go with and if your pleased.

you get what you pay for, thats how it always is, if you want a cheaper radar detector, dont expect it to save you as much as V1, you pay for product, its as simple as that

For cordless, the BEL 946 ranked higher than the Solo II.

alot of forces are picking up radar, but Ka band is still the most used system.

Detectors can still work w/ lazer, as long as he lazers someone ahead of you first.

Well I just bought off EBAY a BEL 980 for the CL and a PNI Sensero Traveller II for the Probe GT. I'll give you a review in a few weeks, and my first true road trip/test will be next weekend. DC to ATL road trip for 4th of July weekend!

I ahte to tell you but travel over to Ohio and in Dublin you will find that they use a combination of systems

They are using LADAR, Lazer, Short burst ladar and short burst lazer. From what I know here isnt a radar detector on the market that can piuck up either of the short bursts, so you are screwed if that system comes to your state

My radar detector is my eye and the self control on my gas pedal

They are probably wrong. The V1 name is here to stay, so there will be no such thing as a V2. Just look at the website, valentine1.com. These rumors are usually always false.....connections with Valentine, etc. all trash.

yea exactly. Also, they are updated quite often, but the basic design hasn't changed, the module has just gotten alot smaller, my first was alot bigger then my 2nd and now my dad just bought a new one and it's even smaller then my current.

A few people on SupraForums have close connections to Mike Valentine. From what I understand from my buddy that owns the Supra, they mentioned a V2 but its real hush hush and isn't really public knowledge yet. So like I said...Rumors. Just have to wait and play it out.
