typically cordless detectors suck badly! they have little if any power.

I had a cordless detector, it sucked so bad!! It never went off, and if it did it was for a traffic light or a store or something. My advice is get a Valentine One, they are the best, I compared mine to all my friends Cobra's and whatnot... they dont compare... the Valentine is the best, I also mounted the remote display in my gauge cluster, looks real nice, no pics unfortunatly. But for the money, you cannot beat it.

Go with a Valentine 1. I don't have one yet but it has rave reviews and seems to be the detector of choice.

Go on epinions.com and check out radar detectors... Apparently the Valentine 1 is not the best out there for the price... The passport 8500 I believe is.

A lot of the reviews I heard were bought...this is just what I hear not what I think. Also I think a couple of members on the board actually bought the passport 8500, but quickly returned the unit for a V1. I personally have the valentine 1 and love it. It has saved me more then a couple of times. Although around my area, a lot of banks and supermarkets are now using a type of radar camera so I get a lot of those...I would still recommend the V1.

Cordless is not the way to go. Cordless radar actually go into a sleep mode to conserve battery power. Then they turn on when a signal is detected. This response delay might be all the time it takes for you to get busted.

I had the Solo and it sucked A**. I have a Bel 815 remote radar and I love it. I its all built in so people can't tell if you have a radar or not. Also Bel came out with a new model, Bel 915, its just like the 815 but it has the technology to pick up the newer radar guns, which shoot a laser spread instead of a beam. The 915 can be updated as new technology becomes avaible.

anythign cordless isnt as effective as a a powered radar detector. do urself a favor and get a valentine one. all my friends have them and even with limo tinti they werk so damn good the sensitivity still has to be turned down. if my car wasnt so slow to begin with i would have one by now, but its all engine mods and looks for me so until then.

I have used Escort detectors for many years. Unfortunately, Cincinnati Microwave went belly up a few years ago and was reincarnated as Escort Inc. The Escort products are not the same level of quality and design that the original Cincinnati Microwave products were. Their customer support also sucks.

I purchased a 7500. It has too many useless bells and whistles and is subject to frequent false Ka band alarms. All the bells and whistles require a memory for ones specific settings. Mine looses its memory every few days and must be reset. Escort blamed the memory problem on a bad power cord and refused to fix it. Replacing the cord did nothing.

Draw your own conclusion. The v1 is clearly the only choice.

Yeah I know; I'm sitting here being jealous of these guys... I wish I'd had a detector yesterday when the VA state cop got my a$$ going 86 on I95 - a 65mph zone... yes, it's reckless driving. Yes, I have to go to Hanover county for court. Yes, if I'd been going 4 miles faster, I'd be in jail right now. *sigh* Oh well...

Wow, you could get arrested for going 90mph? Yesterday, a couple of people and I went to Battle of the Imports in VA. We were in three cars and we got pulled over for going 95mph. But got off with just a warning. I guess I'm just a couple of lucky @ss's.

OMG YOU ARE KIDDING ME!!!?!?!

I was on my way to the Battle of the Imports in VA when I got pulled over! WTF?!?! Where were you? That is so awful. VA law says that for every mile over 90 you spend a night in jail... I am SO FREAKING JEALOUS OF YOU!!!!!

I just heard about it thru friends... I was at the BOI at Atco, NJ last month and we had a good time, and this one was supposed to be even bigger, so we went.

There's supposed to be something in MD on June 2... I'll find out for you if you want. And there's a college show at Mason on June 9, too... I'll be there. I love car shows; they're like my favorite event.

Ok... go to http://www.mirdrag.com and look for it; it's supposed to be June 2, which is next weekend.

The Mason one is the 9th, at the Fairfax campus, and that's about all I know about it, but I'm sure if you just go to the campus and look in lot A or B (by the police station or Enterprise Hall) you'll see it... most likely A though.

Or do you not know the campus? If you don't know anything about the campus... let me know and I'll give you directions on how to find those lots.

Hey for all of those in states where detectors are illegal. Check out the Bel 915R Radar detector. It has the newest technology and can be updated when newer technology comes out. It also has Shadow 2 technology, which blocks radar detector detectors. I have the Bel 815r and it has saved my ass a number of times.

I have the V1 and it saved me from another ticket yesterday morning. I was on a street where there usually isn't any false radar signals (automatic doors) when it started beeping and the arrow indicated that it was behind me and getting stronger. A motorcycle cop pulls up behind me and then follows me for a few blocks before turning around.

As for Adrienne's ticket, I suggest writing a letter to the court asking to go to traffic school (if they allow that out there). Call about 2 weeks later to see if they received your letter and then go to traffic violator's school. In CA it costs $30 for a day class and I got a refund from Las Vegas (where I didn't bring the V1 ) for $125 and it doesn't go on my record.

I got a Passport 8500 in Feb and I love it. I haven't had any problems with it and the only thing I wanna do to it is have it hard wired to the battery to keep the wire out of sight. Compared to the V1, I don't really know whats better.
