Raceway...

Ok here's my question. First my boy invited me to go to the track with him this friday nite to run out cars, so I told him cool I'll go. Now this is my first time i'm actually running at a track. I might as well have fun and see what times I get. So anyway, should I start off with the car on D3 and move it up to D4 or should I try something else to get a good start off?

track= quarter mile?? -- if so:
well-- yea do D3, but chances are you aren't going to make it to 4th gear(That is if this track is a quarter mile anyways-- you might barely .. at the VERY end of the quarter)...tips would be.. if you want you can try power breaking .. but dont do it too much.. fuck up the torque convertor (i dont know why.. i'm just regurtating what i've heard)...

one other thing-- as most people have found with our cars.. start going when the light hits YELLOW .. our cars are slow enough that you won't DQ

someone else post if this isnt consistent with what they know...

PS latincl.. do a search you'll find out some other info also

i notice i do better in my 3.0 when i just hold the brake on D3 and let it idel....light turn yellow....let the brake go and slam on the gas...i think its better than power braking...but that's on the street.

i have a stick, but i rev up to 3grand and as soon as the light turns yellow, drop the clutch and peg the gas. By the time your tires hook up, the light will turn green and you will not DQ. You have 12" from the staging beam to the DQ beam. Works for me. I usually pull a .5 to a .6 r/t. Most people are pulling over a 1.0 when they wait till the green light.

oh yea... dont forget to run on less than 1/4 tank of gas-- it'll weigh you down otherwise

people always say to run with barely any gas, but my car feels alot faster on a full tank. Way more throttle response. Also they mmean go on the 3rd yellow light, not the first one.

same here-- but according to the results i've seen ... actual 1/4 times-- you want less then a quarter tank--

somebody explained it to me this way: the reason you think the car is faster is because its lugging more weight-- so you feel the far lunge forward more.. with the less weight, you dont get the same feeling but in reality it is faster...
