Raced my friends CrX w/b16swap (help him out)

You guys tell me whats wrong here!
One of my good friends has a 91 crx with a 96 jdm b16a swap, in which he has one of the cleanest swaps and engine bays i've ever seen. He has e/i/h, msd ignition, velox wires, type R pistons, exedy stage 2 clutch, and 9 lb. flywheel. 96 gs-r tranny, Unlimited rev chip too, vtec hits at about 4,500, and it pulls till about 9,000. I'm not trying to say my car is fast in any way, but today I beat him! We are still trying to figure out what the fuck is wrong with his car. It runs fine and everything, it even feels really fast when I drive it. Oh and the night before he lost to a 03 Si spaceship with e/i/h by a car length 5 times in a row.

Tonight we raced from a 40mph roll till about 90mph. We both downshifted at the same time, and it was close at first. At the end of second I was 1/2 car ahead, and by the end of 3rd I was a full car ahead.

His car is on track to be a show car anyway, but still it should smoke my CL! The only thing that I can think of that would slow him down is that it's on 19" Konig wheels that weigh about 40lbs each. Besides his dual sparco sprint seats the inside is completely gutted.

I told him there is some guys that know alot about motors in general here so if anyone knows WTF his problem could be, were open to suggestions. Tomorrow were gonna put on his steelies and race to see if it could be the 19"s slowin him down.

But seriously, this car should rape my CL by like 5 cars, right?

heres a few pics of his car and motor! Thanks!

its probably the size of his rims if he wants to race get some 16" or even 15" with racing slicks

yah, he should really go with some smaller rims. those 19's look kinda goofy on an otherwise hot looking little rice-rocket there. i think 17's are the perfect size on a CRX, and they'll weigh considerably less. has he ever gotten it dynoed, or used a GTech to see what kinda power its putting out?

1st off 19's on a CRX is the dumbest shit i've ever heard. Ours usually sits on 14's or 15's. 2nd he should definately be able to smoke you, w/ our car we hit very low and flat 16's w/ the stock motor!!!!

19's are heavy ass shit esp. for a little 4 banger to push!

He should be a very low 14 second car w/ the transplant.

the first thing i'd do is get it on the dyno and see what the power is like. Then we could talk from there.

Also, that's a show car? It's f'ing hideous, get rid of the altezza's and the yellow plastic tubbing in the engine!

I said it's on it's way to being a show car. It's still primered do to the molded kits and shaved handles. The taillights were on it when he bought it, and he plans on changing them. Thanks for the input. Keep it coming. He plans on dynoing it after his vafc and cam gears.

19's and the longer gs-r gear ratios are why you beat him, its hard for the 100+ft/lb to get those wheels rollin.

i'm thinking because the b16a isn't putting out enought torque to pull those 19". also because of the gsr tranny and 19" he's shifting too early.

Sometimes engaging the Vtec too early can cause the VTEC to not continue giving power to 9000rpms. Too many possibilities...chips can also hurt more than they help....yeah and 19s on a gutless high rev motor isn't helping...
