Raced a Miata today

Raced a Miata leaving the toll booth in Chicago. His was one of those with the flip up headlights. The toll booth arm went up at the same time in his lane and mine and we both took off. He had that engine screaming with a big fart pipe exhaust and was banging gears and my CL glided away from him. It was kinda funny. We were car to car to about 30-35 and then I just kept gaining - by 70 I was a car length and then he let up. Musta been embarrassing for him because he had a passenger. My CL has zero mods except for a K&N drop in filter I put in 3 years ago (which reminds me, I still haven't cleaned it...) which I'm sure does zero for extra HP. Not a big kill but was fun none the less!

Too bad he had a passenger. The MX-5 is sensitive to extra weight.
The stats are actually close on the 1/4 mile. Just don't try to race him into a turn.

Doing well, Dreamtt2000. Just got a traffic ticket this morning actually... speeding and stuff. First ticket in a long time.

Having a blast autocrossing and hitting the twisties.
Miata's not a straight line car per-se but neither is the CL. Compared to each other the CL is better in top end due to the Miata's close gear ratio. Gotta run it to redline at 7200 to gett he most out of it but the feeling is great. It'll go when you tell it to. It's nice to leave twin black strips too on a launch.

Gotta slow down now though.

Peace.
