quick question for teh cocao

which mounts needed to be custom for your J32 swap? Any of the motor mounts, or just the tranny mount? I looked for any info previously posted, but had no luck.

or if anyone has a link to a post where he says this that works too. I searched, but found almost no info on his swap... weird.

Wow, I searched for threads started by him and found TONS about the swap

"Haha, for sure. I'm breaking her in before I beat on her, and having her tuned right after. The 6 speed will fit with minumum fabrication. From what I was told, you have to take 1 inch off each side of the sidewall for the 6 speed to fit in. Man, my parents leave today. I'm going to have to ship the other J32 engine out to TX now instead of putting it in the moving truck, rrrrrrr....."

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...7&page=3&pp=25

https://acurazine.com/forums/search.php?searchid=186450

And I believe he needed custom tranny mounts, and maybe engine mounts too, not gonna read the whole thread again. But if I recall, he was also supposed to be filling the stock motor mounts with polyurethayne, dunno if he ever did that, but read the thread it'll say

The side mount over by the power steering pulley was left alone, we did no modifications to it except fill it with poly.

The rear mount was a custom made mount, at first it was moved a few inches towards the passenger side, but then relocated an inch or two back to the right. (So it was still moved regardless)

The front mount was moved, only to be relocated back into stock position. You can get away with using your stock mount here. If it was moved slightly to the passenger side, then I'm not aware of it. We've moved these mounts around so much that I dont think anyone remembers where the stock position was to begin with.

The tranny mount was a custom mount made as well.

I'll look at the car again when i get home from work, and see if i can tell you how much it was moved, if at all possible.

ok I was just kind of curious, as Serge (02AV6) swapped the J32 into his AV6 and kept all the stock mounts, and just filled em with poly, and since their mounts look slightly different than ours I wasn't sure if our mount locations were teh same as theirs or not.

The only reason I had to move stuff around is because the 6 speed tranny is of different size. Since the CLS is built off the 98-02 accord platform, they have no fitment issues.

Well, just looked at my car, and the front mount was in fact moved towards the passenger side a few inches.

As for the CLS engine with stock 3.0 tranny fitment issues. Well, we use the same casting, so I dont see a reason for the engine to be moved one way or the other for any reason. There is one issue you will come across though, and thats the fact that the CLS engine sits roughly 2 inches higher than our engines. That is why my hood does not close all the way, and the engine hits/touches the hood when closed.

As for the wiring, I had the CLS wiring integrated with my stock wiring harness. It's a mess, but it works perfectly.

perhaps a hood scoop would fix that and it woudl keep the intake manifold cool too

I'll keep an eye out, but I'm only ever on I-25 for like 1/5th of a mile every day. Between 6th and colfax, when I go to or from school. I do have the CL eye though, CL's stand out in a big group of cars to me .

7200rpms. I've taken it to 8k by accident on the nitrous, I dont know how that happened, but it was in the rain. As a joke, when I lined up with my friend in his Evo, I took off the line on nitrous gunning it, and the second I gunned it, the rpms went straight to 8k cause of the rain and nitrous shooting through. I got scared as hell, and it happened so fast I couldnt back off untill I saw it hit 8k. I thought my engine was done by then, but luckily it wasnt. Anyways, as I mentioned, 7200 rpms is the redline. My next set up better hit 8000 rpms.
