like i said this might be a dumb question and im sorry if it is guys but what does it mean when the maintenance required sign turns yellow..

it can mean all different things. you have to either take it into the dealer to find out, or get one of the obII readers or whatever the thing is called.
its usually for routine maintenance, ie. 30k checkup.

the answer to your question is that it is not a light it is just a colored rotating disk... as your odometer rolls on the disc keeps turning from green to yellow to red.
it is a mechanical device not electronical. you can use your key to reset the maintainance "light" back to green push in that button on the gauge pod.
nothing is wrong with your car yet, might be around the mileage for the tune up or something like that. check the maintainance schedule in the manual.

i wasn't paying attention. I took it as he said the check engine light. The maintainence light is nothing important, just a reminder......
In The Owners Manual On My 2.3cl 1998 It States That It Is A Maintenance Reminder That Will Cycle Every 7500 Miles. I Clocked Mine And It Is Dead On The Money. Our Cars Are Pretty Reliable So I Just Keep Up On Routine Maintenance, Baby The Hell Out Of The Car And Put My Key In The Resetter To Turn It Back To Green...
