Automatic means automatic!!!

Sure you can change through gears but I think it's best if you leave the changing to the tranmission.

when ur in 2nd gear, ur in 2nd gear. it doesent go up or down. even from a dead stop. so. from d3 to 2nd would be bad. (if done alot) d3 to d4 doesent matter at all, do that as much as u need to. except if ur going over like 80mph. cause u will burn out ur torque donverter, and 3rd gear clutch packs. the car knows itself best, so if ur shifting 1-2-d3-d4, for race purposes, ur wasting ur time plus like 1\10 of a second. go with d3 from a stop, then around 100 go to d4 (i cant believe im telling u this.) why u wanna shift all crazy 4 n e wayz?

There's no need to shift. If you have an automatic use it. If you want a standard then put a standard in.

i dunno i just tend to shift from d3 to 2nd around cornors or when i want a quick speed burst, i go from 1 - 2 - 3 -4 sumtimes when i race it just seems like it works better cuz i can max out sum gears and i feel more power maybe it is better to go from d3 to d4 in a race i dunno but maybe ill stop doing all that bs... but doesnt d3 burn more gas than d4 if used like driving in d3 all day and driving in d4 all day

Don't expect your tranny to be in commission long is all that needs be said. However, in opposition to those who dissapprove of manually shifting...it all depends on your transmission. The transmission doesn't hold out your gears until redline giving you the full torque potential. The bad side is our transmissions have a mind of their own. On a good cool day then yes the tranny shifts almost immediately when you control it (basically telling it when to shift). And it does take a bit to master, knowing that you have to time when to let off of the gas then immediately punch it again. Using this technique can actually increase your times. I don't have slips but I haven't lost to most Accord Coupes with the 3.0 that have similar setups to mine. Might just be the Accords are slower but that's enough proof for me. I'd surely wouldn't mind testing it with one of you 3.0's. Experimentation is what it's all about! Anyone?

On that note, this is the second tranny I'm on in the same year. So with the general concensus, "shifting is bad" !!!!!!!!!

Also, on downshifting...why the hell are you even doing that???? Doesn't the horrible "JERK" mean anything to you? I don't know it fuckin' hurts to me, I can just feel her suffering. If you feel the urge to shift, shift only up never down.

i disagree

from d3 to d4 with my vafc i notice a big diference, in the torque and response of the throttle

i think from d3 to d4 is ok, i do it all the time but from 1st to 2nd to d3 to d4 i VERY BAD

d3 to d4 shoudnt matter that much but i do notice a difference on the 3.0's at least

So what was it you disagreed on? I think I presented several statements in my post, and hey just trying to see what you are saying. Not being a smart ass here!!!

hmmm.. well it looks like I'm good then. I do a lot of switching between D3 nd D4 while I'm driving. There is a lot of changes between 30 mph and 50 mph roads around here, so I use d3 for the 30 roads so I don't wear out my breaks too much, and the D4 for the 50 mph roads, so I save on gas.

If you want to shift your own gears, then why don't you just buy a manual?

DO NOT DOWNSHIFT IN AN AUTO!!!!!

Upshifting is somewhat ok, but pretty much pointless unless your racing. I find just keeping it in d3 during most city driving gives me plenty of torque to drive normally. It's actually better because the car does not downshift so much from 4th or OD to 3rd when I need to gain speed.
