question for those with aftermarket shift knobs

after you installed the knob.. what did you do about the chrome plastic trim ring and how did you make the boot fit flush on the knob?

you can find some of this stuff in search. most people cut the ring off and used a rubber band as snug up as they could get it. i did that and wasnt pleased, so i got a momo boot and knob which screw together.

its been a while but it think i shoved the bottom ring of the new knob down the boot, put the rubber band on, then screwed it together so it wasnt.

I used a zip tie with my greddy shift knob. It worked out well because when you put on an aftermarket knob, there will be more slack on the top of the shift boot. This is because when you take off the plastic ring, the shift knob will sit lower.

Just take a zip tie and fold of the excess material (inside) and tie it with a zip tie. It won't slide down becuase the stick widens toward the base.

You can upgrade the whole shifter and use a PSPEC tuning shifter and shift boot. Super clean. Looks like OEM but better.
