Question?

I was wondering if you guys could explain something to me. Why is it that my car always smokes, from the muffler, I mean. I have a 3.0 and it's like always smoking and I don't know why. If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks.

how many miles are on your car?

Try using any of those smoke stop oil additives at auto stores, they worked great on my 92 mitsu that would smoke like a chimney if i didnt use any.

word, what color, different colors have different meanings, and dont use the stop smoke crud, horrible idea, thats for car dealerships trying to get over on you, ever think about how thick that crap is? horrible for filters and the rest of the motor

If it's light green smoke, their might be an oz. of Marijuana clogged
on the catalytic. Probably stashed and forgotten by the previous owner.

blue smoke has to do with valve stem..

black smoke is your engine getting old..

white smoke (while warming up) is normal...

white smoke (constantly while driving in normal weather temp.. ) means your engine is too hot and needs to be shut off..

dont know.. if im right.. might need to double check! good luck!

blue or light white.... coolant or water is leaking into your engine

black... oil is leaking

white smoke with a fuel "smell" is normal in the morning

Alright guys,
I got a 1998 3.0cl with about 87k miles on it. Its giving out a lot of white smoke while running and i notice that my car smokes more than others standing at the light or passing by. The check engine light jus came on this morning and the mileage in city sucks at jus abt 15 to a gallon and abt 20 on a highway. i bought the car in dec last and it passed the inspection with flyin colors, help please...

do not put the stop smoke additive in it. thats crap and it will only cause more problems.

try doing the sea foam treatment. its not a joke. i did it on my 3.0 and WOW i could tell a huge difference.

it could only be condensation. i get it here in florida. especially if its really cold outside. in otherwords its prolly steam and not smoke.

What is sea foam treatment? Neva heard of it. I took it to the mechanic last night to get the oil change done and the oil level was way too low, so i am guessing it might eb burning some oil. Also got him to run the engine diagonostic and he siad the EGR is showing an error...how much does the egr replacement cost? and is it related to it the smoking? If it is damamging the engine, i will take it to the dealership asap otehrwise will wait for the winters to pass...

im pretty sure the egr valve is covered till 100k miles, theres a recall on them. so call acura w/ your vin and find out if its still good. seafoam treatment is the best, at when u first put it in your car it will smoke like its on fire, but as soon as you get on the highway and floor it. it clears out all the stuff. and picks up like a mofo. do a search on here its been covered before and everyone has the same great outcome.

Isn't it bad to use the sea foam treatment on high mileage vehicles?

it clogs the oil ports in the crank bearings. could cause u to spin a bearing, in otherwords it will knock really bad. and its too thick to run thru the pushrods for the lifters this is why it stops the smoke. too thick to process..

i got 111k miles on my cl and it helped a ton. totally different car now.

if you have white smoke all the time and its pretty bad, then you probably blew a piston ring. b/f is ASE certified and thats what he told me
