I was wondering the same thing too...i heard you could paint them, but it requires time and a lot of work. Painting plastic is not easy.
by the way what does

most shops wont paint them cuz they dont want to be responsible for any probs with the paint comming off. if u had a 98+ then they would already be painted. the plastic finish isnt really made to accept paint. i would just do it urself. it will cost you bout $80 in supplies from a pep boys. just sand them down and clean them up. then spray some bulldog adhesive promoter, then the color, sand them with 600 grit paper. do one more color coat, then clear coat it 3-4 times, sand it, and one more clear coat and it should be bady ass smooth. i painted mine along time ago and they held up for 2 yrs no probs through jersey and pa winters.

i recently went to sherwin williams about this and they were VERY helpful: they can mix the paint to match your car along with a flex agent for the rubber - they have CO2 bottles that they use and two would be enough. no primer needed
price for 1 bottle was like $15-20

yea i just got mine done recently, and the shop said it was a pain in the ass to do, but they came out perfect. I guess what they did was sand em down , primer them a few times, and then shoot em. to do both of my sides, my rear, and my WW lip they charged me $325

I had a body shop prep/paint/install my WW lip, paint the splash guards, and paint the front plate bracket all for $125. The splash guards and plate bracket are very plasticy (is that a word) but they came out pretty good... I am just lucky I have a 98 and my sides are already painted!
