Quaife install info
For those that ever want to install a limited slip differential....
I have the following info:
1: The bolts that hold the final drive on the diff are reverse thread. Have to remove the final drive to bolt it to the new diff.
2: The gear that drives the vehicle speed sensor has to be pulled of the old diff too. Bought a 3 jaw gear puller that worked fine. Couldnt get the gear on the new diff so I slowly had to heat it with a torch to enlarge it enough to slide in onto the new one.
3: (and most important) Two tapered bearings have to be pulled off the old diff. No gear puller in the world can get its jaws into the tight clearance between the bearing and diff. Ended up damaging one of the bearings trying to get them off. Had to order two new ones Mon. $60
Cliff notes: Buy/rent a gear puller. Buy/Borrow a propane torch. Buy two new bearings prior to attempting much easier.

I doubt that I'll need these instructions, but thanks for posting them.
BTW: Are you a mechanic by profession? You really know your stuff! I'm amazed at what you've been able to do with your CL!

I shouldve been.
Been joking with the girlfriend that she needs to support me so I can go back to school to be a mechanic.
Nothing like taking a 50% pay cut to do want you enjoy.

Was the install worth it? If/when I get the turbo for my 2.2cl I would like something to improve cornering and I hear that the Quaife LSD is the way to go. Ballpark, how many hours do you think it would take for a shop to install it?

So I am assuming I should wait until after the turbo. Thanks.

I'll open the question up to anybody then: Does anyone have any experience with the Quaife LSDs? If so how awesome/crappy was it? Thanks

Im going to go the whole, "buy a junked f22b1 and rebuild it in the garage" route, 'cause I can't afford to be out a vehicle for more than a few days. Thanks for your concern though
