exhaust

i parked my car today and i could smell this really strong burning smell outside. i walked around the car and the smell was coming from the exhaust. its a really strong burning smell but no smoke. what can this be?

also for all the people that changed their stock head units on the 3.0, has the sound quality gone down now that you have an aftermarket head unit and did the installers have to do anything special to put in the aftermarket head unit. some guy told me taht i have 4 factory amps and that i would have to bypass each one in order to change the bose, this true?
thanks people

When's the last time you changed your oil? You could be burning oil.

As for the hu question, the installer told you, you had 4 amps!?

If you have the premium blose system, you have one factory amp, I (the installer) bypassed the amp and removed it. What he told u is

How long have you had you headers and exhaust for? If its new then you are simply breaking it in.

^true.as for the h.u question, that is why you should install that kind of stuff your self.it is always a rip to pay someone 100 dollars or more for something that takes less than 20 minutes and parts cost about 15 dollars.next time check it out yourself.

about the h.u., i put mine in about a month or so ago and ive had static on the cd player ever since, its not REAL loud just when i switch tracks in between and before the song starts...and someone on here told my to buy a scosche adapter for aftermarket amps, but i didnt put it in yet...i dont want to take the amp out so i dont need to bypass it right? as for the adapter, is that the right choice? and it looks pretty confusing to install
heres the adapter i got...got it for 18$ at walmart

so they do have to bypass and remove the amp right, which will cost me more to install an after market head unit. what about the sound quality if i go from the bose sound system to a 200 watt cd player head unit?

could the cat converter have anything to do with the smell? that shit is real strong, but there is absolutely no smoke cominig out, just bad fumes
and i just recently got an oil change last week. im on top of that stuff

And there should be no static in your head unit, it's either a wire is grounding out, or they didn't tape off the wires, or u have a bad ground.

blackack, so theres no need for the adapter for stock amps? i should just go back in and recheck all of my connections? what do you mean by the wire could be grounding out?....theres only static when i play a cd, not the radio

The adapter might fix your problem, but static is not normal, check for ground loops

so if i change to a 200 watt head unit, the sound quality coming from the bose speakers will remain the same right. hope that is right

im getting alot of responses for the exhaust problem, so i might have to take it to get checked on.

The sound quality imo improves, I put my speakers directly onto my 200 watt pioneer and I think it sounds better than the blose. Course, I blew my stock 6x9's and had to replace my components anyway
