PROBLEM>>>please help

Someone hit my car looks like parellel parking. The impact looks like just below the driver's side headlight. No damage to the bumper, looks like a really slow impact. It did, however, break my corner reflector loose from the housing. This is hard to explain, but the reflector slides down the housing halfway into the low beam slot.... I can get at it through the corner bulb in the back with a skinny rod and manuver it back into place, but after the first bump, it slides back down. I bet this ais really rare and I got hit just right to cause this. But any suggestions short of replacing the whole headlight would be greatly, greatly, appreciated. Thanks.

replace the whole headlight unless you want to take the light apart and get out the superglue. any type of light damage, especially on headlights w/ clear lenses and a mirrored inside, is hard to repair and keep it clean looking because of the mirror, if you understand what i am trying to say.

If I take the housing apart, then Im sure that it will be a bitch to get sealed again. I'm probably gonna have to get a new light. Should I get one from a junkyard, or new. Im sure the price difference is huge.

Hey that little lens thing pops out and pops right back in assuming the clips didnt break off. I doubt they did because the impact probably bent the lens enough to pull the clips from their holes. I would open it up and see if thats what the problem is. If it doesnt work you can still always buy a new headlight. No harm done if its broken, just alittle time wasted. Good luck PM me if you need any help

The clips aren't broken. My main concern is sealing the unit back when I'm done. I took it to Acura and we played around with it for a few minutes. The tech told me that it was near impossible to seal it back properly. I think I'm fizucked with a borrowed dizick. I wonder how much one would be off a wrecked CL?? It bothers the shit out of me though.

I took my apart and resealed them and they are fine so have lots of 2nd generation CL and TL people. What have you got to loose if you are planning on buying new light anyway. whelp its up to you but i would give it a try. Too bad its not your passengers side light cause i have an extra one of those at the moment.

OK. I'll try it this weekend, but I have little confidence in my ability to reseal it. If anyone has tips on how to do it right, thanks. I guess I can always buy a new one if I screw up. And then take the dick out of my ass. Thanks though.

Well im assuming you can get the light out but if you can't rmstoico is the man to ask or i can give you a few tips. To open up the housing I removed the 3 or 4 little black rubber pipes on the back of the housing, the bulbs, and the black rubber piece on the top/side of the corner of the light, put the whole assembly in the oven, set it for 200 and let it cook for 4 minutes, than i took a flat head screw driver and slowly started to pry the casing apart, as it got harder i put the light back in for another 2 minutes or so and returned to prying it open. Just work carefully and slowly. After you get it apart its pretty easy to pop the lens back in, just make sure you dont leave finger prints. Than i heated up the two pieces in the oven for a few minutes and put a bead of silicone in the assembly and pushed the two pieces back together again. Than I wrapped some tape around the light to hold the sides together and let it dry some. Then I put another bead of silicone around the seal to make them extra air tight and reinstalled. The one light is perfect and hasn't fogged at all, the other one I kinda forgot about in the oven and part of it melted alittle where the seal is so it fogged up some. I took it out and resealed it and haven't had a problem. Good luck feel free to ask me any questions Hope this helps

I would use a low power heat gun to get it apart being careful not to melt it. Then when it is open try to get as much of the gunk out as you can, then put a bead of silicone in the groove and push it together. As mentioned earlier it is easy to get fingerprints on the plastic while it is heated up and if there is silicone on your fingers. I can't think of any reason you need to heat it up to put it together, unless the silicone says to. Make sure not to crack it while pulling it apart.

Yeah you cant get rid of the factory silicone very easily so i just reheated it so it was sticky again and than pretty much reused it. Worked well
