I have had my car for 3 years now and recently its been driving crappy. it just doesn't seem to pick up speed, wasnt like that before, although i do have the check enginee light on, but i think it's because i put a moffler on the car and i dont have a intake to even it up. meaning i have a lot of air flow going out but not enough coming in. what do you guys think?

 

When is the last time you did a tune-up? How many miles are on it?

 

its got 81,000 miles, i haven't really done a tune up yet. i got it when it was on 50,000 miles. do you think thats the problem, because some times when i fill the tank it runs pretty smooth...?

 

Change your plugs, wires, air filter and you should see a little difference. If you havent done these yet, im sure the person before you didnt do them either.

you said that your check engine light is on? well go to autozone and they will pull your codes for free... having a muffler on there will not cause the light to come on

I CHECKED IT OUT AND IT SAYS ITS MY CAD CONVERTER, BUT I RECENTLY WENT FOR EMISSION AND I PASSED IT SO IM WAITTING FOR MY COLD AIR INTAKE TO COME IN , CAUSE I GUESS INTAKE WILL GIVE SOME MORE AIR THROUGH MY ENGINE FOR MY POWER...

 

why don't you, oh i don't know.....do the proper maintenance on your car before you start adding mods and making it worse.

 

im sure your problem isnt too much air going out and not enough in, you should have gotten a tune up as soon as you got it. How often do you change the oil?

Did you get the recall done? The EGR recall, the dealership will do it for free. All 99 cl have to do it. Thats why my engine light came on. No probs lots of power!

 

im pretty sure they wont do it to a salvage title car, but do all 99 EGR fuck up? my check engine light went on a few weeks ago, got the code from autozone and cleaned my EGR, and light went off. is it going to continue to come on?

i havent ever heard of anyone putting amuffler on thier car and havin the cel come on. disconnect the battery to get rid of the code for 15 min. restart the car, and see if it comes back. also u need to reset the ecu (disconnect the battery) every time u do an upgrade
