Power window problem..

Well, the power widow just got stuck and when we lifted it up, there was a 'Crack' sound and now the window is loose but still on its tracks and the cable that brings the window up and down is loose. There is also some broken white plastic parts that I pulled out. How can I fix this?
Thanks.

sounds like a broken window regulator/motor. Im in the process of fixing this in my mom's 92 camry. Just take off the door panel and R&R the mechanism.

If your into DIY:
This is a link to free repair manuals if you need help. it was just posted on the 2G TL forums. Enter 123456789 as the library card number and choose the 2nd library selection on the list.

http://www.oplin.org/databases/proxy...ain.autorefctr

otherwise, you can pay a local repair shop to do it.

Regulator definitely dead. I remember when mine went on me, it was in the middle of a STORM that i was driving through to get back to PSU, and the window was 1/2 down. Had the heat blasting on 95 to keep me from freezing lol. The cold sure kept me awake though

you can either find a CL window regulator or ofcourse from a 94-97 accord would work too

Damn, I was hoping that I could just redo the cable but there are white plastic pecies everywhere. Looks like it is the damn reg. Thanks for your help guys!

I did find a accord reg for like, $40 so that's good.

You lose the auto down though, IIRC.

Forgot to mention that it's the passenger side so it doesn't matter about the auto down. The drivers side was replaced from the original owner already.
How are there no recalls on this crap?! Then when someone finds out that the emissions are polluting the air or whatever, they have a recall for that...... Wow.

im guessing thats a metal wire.
I took apart my mom's window regulator and and to put it back together. it was HARD! had to keep the wire under tension and wind it up in a plastic wheel and put it in the metal casing/motor. i think im like the only person who ever rebuilt a window regulator.
just buy a new one and get it installed or DIY. its good their not too expensive and the labor should be about an hour or less. its easy with a new one. just have to unbolt the window from the regulator and unbolt the regulator then reverse.
its not bad. regulators fail and thats what they do. its like timing belts, you gotta replace at least 1 or 2 in the life of a car.

Make sure you get the one from the two door accord.

it most likely not the regualtor... its the plastic piece that the cable pulls on.

if you can hear the motor run then you can fix it yourself without having to buy anything.

if you take it out and open the winding wheel you can rewrap the cable because it probably all tangled up by now.

the cable will have a ball on the end... you can attach that end to a new slit that you can cut into the metal frame of the window regulator track... (you have to be quite handy and creative to know what im talking about) you will have to pull pretty hard to get enough slack to be able to hook it on this new slit that you cut with a hack saw. sorry i didnt take any pics, but ive done this exact thing twice on my cl and my buddies.

this will take you about 1 hr to do not including the time it takes you to take out the regulator.

if you want to try this and have any questions PM me.

I was thinking the same thing but the plastic piece that the cable pulls on is broken in pieces.

Alright, I have just bought that window reg. from the ebay link above.
I am going to DIY and hopefully this won't blow up in my face too.
I am going to follow this guide: http://home.comcast.net/~bobobutler/...ra_Window.html Is there anything else I should know about the installation Johnny or dose that pretty much cover it?

you dont even need the DIY page, theres a few bolts only....3 for the window and maybe 4 for the regulator itself. hardest part is removing the panel.
