ahhhh, i woke up this morning to this wierd knocking noise, you cant hear it that much when inside the car, but when i open the hood it knocks. it sounds like something is hitting plastic. its not like loud or anything so it cant be too bad. its sounds like rattling platic covers but its not. but here is where the noise is coming from.



i think it might be the timing belt? im not sure, fluids seem to be in the right measurements. the car has 140k miles and i dont know the situation on tune ups when the previous owned it at 100k mile mark. its freaking me out!

someone let me know! oh yeah, if you do know, estimated price to fix? mechanic isnt working, damn sunday.

well i know that if water gets into your gas,it will cause it to knock. i hope you don't fill up at hess or somewhere they mix their gas w/ water to stretch it.

forgot to add, it doesnt do it all the time, it only did it when i first started the car this morning and it did it on and off. i found out that if i rev the engine high itll begin to knock then if i rev it high again itll go away. im lost and confused.

 

mine has been making a knocking kinda of sound as well. off and on like yours.

It kinda sounds like it's related to a pully of some sort, best way I can describe it is "ka-WHump ka-WHump ka-WHump" at even intervals if I am idleing.

 

yea they mix their gas with water. thats why their prices are low.

either that or your valves are tapping

 

im gonna try to run it by my mechanic. i would like to do a video clip but i dont have a camera that does it. ugh, hopefully its an easy fix.

 

its been a little colder out here at night,

maybe that has something to do with it .
