Please identify this part

I have a 97 3.0 CL.

Here is where I pulled the part from. It was under the battery area. I think it is the speed sensor but I want someone to confirm for me.

Off the tranny:

thanks all

grrr

this is frustrating. It seems like I may not have a '97 3.0 transmission. I have looked at the place where the speed sensor would be and the only thing I see is what I posted up. The replacement sensor I bought using the part number looks like this:

Help before I lose all my hair. Thanks AznX though.

im going by the acuraautomotiveparts.org diagram, but it may be wrong because they have the same part number for the 97 2.2 and 3.0 speed sensor
scratch that
EDIT: never mind they are the same
if you got this part number its the right one

yep

exactly the part I got. However, the part that is on my tranny now has only two pins as you can see in the pic. I bought the car used a couple of years ago so I guess they may have put a different tranny in there. But even then, i don't see any Honda/Acura transmissions with a speed sensor like that I have on my car.

By the way, I decided to subscribe to Helm Inc. online. I got a good picture of the speed sensor and it looks more like the one that came off the tranny than the one I bought. So why would the part number give a completely different part?

you definitely bought the right speed sensor for your car, but that might not be the speed sensor you pulled out.

From Acura Manual

Hey

I got this from the Acura service manual via Helm Inc online:

As you can see, the speed sensor looks more like what I pulled off the car. Could they really screw up and provide the wrong part number? All the speed sensors I have seen advertised for this car has looked like what I bought. Go figure. I might just have to take it to the stealership and have them do the work . I'm just pooped.

the one you have outlined is the main gear shaft speed sensor, not the final drive gear speed sensor. that isnt the one you need. the one you pulled out us used to tell the ecu how fast the internal gears are spinning in relation to each other, not how fast the final drive gear is going.. definatley NOT the one you need.

the part I bought, ,

is the correct part but I'm looking in the wrong place to install it? The part I bought is the mainshaft speed sensor? or the final drive gear speed sensor?

thanks

that is the final drive speed sensor. which is usually the one which is faulty.
