Please Help!! Hid Install Problem!
Hey everyone. Someone please help me. I just installed my hids on my 97 CL, and it looks all messed up. I got the D2R ballasts with the D2R bulbs, and the beam shoots everywhere and not straight on the road. I tried every possible way to adjust it but finally figured out its not the adjustment. Anyone have had this trouble??? The bulbs seems to securely held in (I added a paper clip as a bracket). I tried just moving the bulbs at different angles inside the housing but still... Can someone check out the photos to see whats going wrong?!?!?! Thanks for all the help.

who got the best deal?
i didnt even knw u could put D2r bulbs in there, i dont think our housings can take it, i bet the light is all over the place because our reflector arent made for those intense lights. open up the housing and cover the reflectors and see what happens.

i think the bulb itself is not in the right place in the housing, are you still using the 9006 "locking ring" that is on the housing?
When I was thinking of doing this i was told that you had to get rid of that one and find the best spot for the bulb then fabricate your own ring to hold it in place.

ENGAGE MY VTEC BABY!!!!!!
i dont think the bulb is sitting properly, hit me up on aol im @ jgiguere17 and i can help ya out some, but i would check of the bulb is all the way in, i think you are getting a uneven spread of the light, which means that the bulb is not centered in the housing, and is probably pointing off a lot from the pics i see but make sure the bulb is all the way in, you might need to take off the light, i have heard that some bubls dont sit all the way forward and will give out that spread like you see, make sure inside you see the bulb all the way out and not part way and some bulbs in the back part of the housing, if you dont know what i mean i can try to find a pic, hit me up or hit up Mike aka VXCL and he should know more than me bu i would check the angle of the bulb first

okay # 1 the ignitor has to be either directly on the bottom or sometimes it works better on the top when using a halogen reflector. normally it is on the bottom. #2 try pulling the bulb back about 3-5mm. that should solve everything. dont expect to have this though.
try for something close to this. this is a 6th accord oem housing with d2s bulbs.
also how much you pay for everything. im glad some1 went this route intstead of a kit. hopefully u got everythign for about $250
i just noticed they put my cl in the xenon retro database at the automotive lighting forum.

I paid 280$ shipped. It's not a bad HID, I like it a lot, but this is the only problem. Installing it was a breeze. So you think I should pull is out about 3-5mm? It's already kinda not all the way in.

just park in front of wall and move the bulb around to see where its most focused. generally in a 9006 halogen housing its 3-5 mm further back than the 9006. but thats the filiment. the actaul 9006 might have been held further back. so u might have to go more like 8-10. its trial and error process.

so what ever happened? what finally ended up working?
technically the d2r has to go inside more to line up exactly like the 9006, but then you would have to modify the housing. so i think pulling it back also helps to focus it, but just not as good as if you could go foward about 1/4"

Yeah, i've tried everything. I even tried to push it in, pull it out, turn it, and nothing has seemed to work. I even tried to modify the housing, it was kinda hard, that didn't work either. I was thinking about shaving a little bit off the sides of the housing, so it would fit in perfectly. what do you think? Oh yeah btw, VXCL, where did you get that setup for your projectors? do that beam perfectly? I'm thinking about that, it looks really good, too. Thanks

How much are you selling them for? And what do you think I should do as of right now? I even had to adjust the headlight lower and now my high beam is all messed up.

u can keep the d2r, but they wouldn;t be as bright as d2s due to the coating on them. this can be removed.\

Ok, well as of right now, you think there is anything I can do right now? I don't want to spend anymore money right now. I'm kind of in dept, so I want to be able to fix them as best as I can. You think I should shave some of the plastic off the sides and try to get it in as far as I can? Thanks.

what i dont understand is that on the lighting fourm they sayto focus a d2s bulb in a halogen reflector move it back about 4-5mm. when i personally took the bulbs side by side and lined up the filament and saw how each sat in the housing it was more than obvious the d2s needed to go anout 1/4" to postion it the same. go pick up a halogen lamp cheap at a junkyard and mess with it. when u figure it out then mod the cl. thats my best advice. if i have time ill see if i can get one to focus on my old set of cl lamps, but iw ould have to use the high beam reflector..
