Oxygen Sensors
Oxygen Sensors
Well I Just Found Out That Both Of The Oxygen Sensors On My 97 Ack Went Bad, Which By The Way There $200 each At Shop Price. Has This Happened To Any One? If So What You Do And How Much Did It Cost? AND WILL IT MESS UP THE CAR IN ANY WAY?
i recently had this problem. About 4 months ago one of my sensors went bad and my check engine light came on. When i went to get my oil changed i had the guys run the code and they told me it was one of my sensors. After talking to a friend who owns a shop he recommended i change both..... prices from shops were outragous....i was quoted 300 for one! so i got on acuraautomotiveparts.org and ordered both at just over 100 each.... got then about two days ago and installed em myself. Install was a bit tricky but mainly because of placement....and the old o2's didnt wanna come off at first, but anyone who's hands on in any way could do it themselves. I noticed quite a big diff in driving. Before i was getting horrible gas mileage, getting about 220 miles per tank (15m/gal) and since the install my last tank was 305 before i needed refill. Also, shifting is alot better and the car doesnt complain to start on low tanks of gas. I would recommend doin it right away, but from my understanding it wont hurt the car or motor if you dont....itll just eat gas and maybe leave a little carbon build up in the fuel systems.... nothing a little carb cleaner cant fix..... anyway, my consensus- buy then from acuraautomotiveparts.org.... get udner the car, and replace em right away....youll be happy you did!
There is a factory recall on these, atleast there is on the 97 2.2 cl, if you meet the requirements your local acura dealer may replace them for free. You should check with them first to possibly save time and money. But if you do have to pay for them yourself, they cost $98.31 each plus shipping on the acura automotiveparts.org site ( look under exhaust pipe (1) section). I can save you some time searching the internet and tell you that is the absolute cheapest price you will find. There are also universal kits that require wire splicing but are usually around $50 - $75 ( I would feel safer going with the direct fit myself, for the difference). There is a thread on here on how to put them in, step -by-step (don't you love this site!!). If you don't want to put them in yourself, expect to pay for one to two hours labor at a mechanic's shop. By the way, it won't mess up the car until you get em' fixed, it'll probably just hurt your MPGs and you'll idle a little rough. d5c5b pretty much already said all of this. Good luck and I hope I provided some help.

u talkin' bout the two sensors for the climate control right?
that tells the climate control what temp. is inside and outside car
in order to get to the desired climate control setting as quickly as possible?
and it has that much of an impact on gas mileage and engine performance?
