our ABS orange light = Break problems

On monday my red e-break light and the orange ABS break light came on has any one ever had this happen to them?? Then last night , my breaks gave out , at first the peddle was starting to be spongy and this morning my breaks are gone, it is lost fluid and i think that a line must have broken or some how i lost all of my fluid ?? but has any one ever had this happen to them ?? when i start the car the lights come on with the intail start up and then the ABS light goes off but in about a minute the light comes back on and stays on ? but the e- break light stays on and it is not engaged?? i hope it is not too much $ glad that i got those brembo cross drilled and sloted to put on yet!

Definitely lost fluid/pressure. You should be able to see where it all came out just looking under the hood/under the car. Find it, fix it.

your abs light only controls your antilock.....doesnt mean your whole system is screwed...just means that they will lock up on you instead of pulsing........as for the other problems...that can cause your abs to malfunction but otherwise look for a line thats cut or broken....check you ebrake light sensor under the actual ebrake..it might be unpluged or not aligned w/ your handle.....

but to me it sounds like your m/cylinder isnt producing the pressure..if you have no leaks...then that could be your cause

When one of my calipers was leaking fluid i would get the red warning light for low fluid then when it got low enough the ABS would also light up. I just assumed that that was due to not enough fluid pressure in the system so the computer turned the ABS off.

I could not really see this leak because it was kinda slow and because of where it was at.

I had this happen on my acura. I had a break leak on the rear caliper. I was filling up the master cylinder with break fluid when it ran out. I took it over to the shop and had the brakes replaced and the rear calipers. Cost me about $1300 for the whole job. Fix it now, or your master cylinder could need to be replaced if you let it go to long. Sounds like you have a bigger leak than I did. My brakes felt more soft, but it took a while for mine to go out. Just know that is something that you don't want to wait on. Brakes you don't mess around with....my

You should be OK to just replace the one. Shouldn't be too tough/expensive if it's just the rubber one, but I can't say for sure.

since u have to bleed the whole system anywayz i WOULD replace the other one. someone could have let the caliper hang by the hose before during a brake job and messed up the passenger one, so they could have done it to the drivers one. eather way its only like a 10 min job, and like i said u gotta bleed all the brakes anywayz. so......

you hsoulda just gotten stainless steel brake lines while you were at it. They would have lasted longer and imporved the feel of your braking. of course the only ones I can find are like $170 + shipping for all 4 all around.

I had this problem twice, both times, one of my rear calipers burst, and I lost my entire brake system and pressure. Glad to hear that you found the bad line, loosing your brakes is scary shit. Good luck with the brembos BTW
