Which brand do you think are the best?

Alot of people seem to like Comptech. But why don't you get exhaust and a muffler first? Headers really don't add that much to sound or hp. Mabey 5 hp max. Not good for the price IMO.

Whoa wha? Headers added 30+ in a dyno for a 3.0 CL. This is from the comptechs..

Are you sure? I thought the stock manifold is almost like a header already (4-2-1 on the 4 cylinders I thought)...Plus, he doesn't even have a muffler or exhaust yet. The stock muffler is still restrictive. 30 hp is alot to believe under those conditions.

Well im 90% sure about the gains..but fastvtec could back this up because he has the comptech's on and had it dynoed. Either way, the full exhaust/header package would be awesome

If header gains really are 30 HP...I'd be very interested in getting some. But what about other brands? Comptech is hella steep.

That's why I haven't gotten them! Can't afford them! I know there are other brands out there that you can get to fit our cl's, but I dont think the gains were as high

you guys are talking apples and oranges, hehe, one is saying the 30hp gain (3.0), the other is saying no, its only 5 because the stock manifold is 4-2-1 (4 cyl).

Does it even matter wich brand we prefer for the 2.3 and 2.2 cl? The only brand that makes headers for the 3.0 is comptech. You really don't have a choice on this one

i really wasnt sure if any other brands fit the 3.0 ...but thanks...and the exhaust headers combo would be nice...but its a matter of money

dcsquirm88 said he got his OBX headers, CAI, and catback for less than 250...i dont remember the exact price....i dont know if his CL is 2.2 or 3.0....umm....is venom400 worth 300-400 bucks?? im thinkin about getting one after i get my headers and catback exhaust

Hey DP I sent you a reply to your PM. I got a 2.3CL so obx headers will not fit your car. The only company that makes headers for the 3.0 CL is comptech and they cost $1,000.00. About the venom save that for last you get the best gains with it if you have more mods. Oh and venoms dont cost $400 they go for $270 around there.

Headers give you lil sound.... decent HP!
Comptech is rated at 18 HP, but guess what guys, not at yolurt wheels, at the crank! You will get maybe 10hp... hehehe love the way things are manipulated by companies...

Besides I believe (not 100%) Comptech only makes 3.0 headers...
DC makes a 2.2/2.3 header for about $1000 cheaper than comptech...

Exhaust doesnt do JACK $HIT for your car but a max of 5hp, usually 2hp... Comptech recommends NOT changing stock exhaust on our cars... thats why they do not make them!

But.. anyway do what you wish... those are the facts...

It should also be mentioned that Greddy will be coming out with headers for the 3.0 engine some time soon. They should be alot cheaper than comptech in the $700 range.

exhaust might only give u 4hp, but it looks and sounds better and saves a ton of money for other mods, u can get exhaust for 120 intalled, headers have to be ordered so ur paying a grand, plus shipping, and installation if u cant do it urself, so is ten hp worth over a grand, its up 2 u, think of other mods to spend 1000+ on or at least waid for Greddy headers to come if u have to have them that bad, try something cheaper like pulleys, CAI, exhaust, Apexi A/F controller before getting headers. Im my opinion they arnt worth that much u can get nice 18"s with tires for that much. headers would be one of my last choices for upgraged, if u want 2 go fastr 4 free theres something called weight reduction (d u really need to race with heated leather seats cruise control ect)

hold on casper, im confused....some people say the stock exhaust is still restrictive compared to other performance exhausts. is that true?? im gonna save myself 500 bucks if i dont have to change the exhaust. i'll get headers and venom and im done! sorry..im a n00b..i got this car three weeks ago..please dont yell at me ~

The header isn't going to do anything for ya with a stock exhaust.

You can send me the money you would've spent on the header.

The fact remains you will gain minimal hp from redoing your piping and getting an aftermarket muffler. At max you'll gain 2-5 hp no more than that. If you do custom piping your not going to need more than 2 1/4 inch piping anymore than that and you'll lose back pressure, especially if you have a 4 cylinder. You should get an exhaust put in but don't expect any big gains. Atleast you'll love the sound, vtec never sounded so good
