Opinions on G35...

Well time has come for me to get a new car...hopefully. I'll have my car paid off this summer so I'm thinking about purchasing the G35 coupe. Has anyone rode in one? Any critisism is welcome.

Here is the body kit I'll be purchasing also. The rims will be DTM trafficstars.

though i've never drove in one. I think they are beautiful cars. That would be my first pick of a new car *within reason*. Are you going to sell your cl?

yeah, awesome car... but if you're lookin for possible better aftermarket support, and something a few grand cheaper the 350z is just as cool also, as with many other brand new models, you might want to wait till the next model year comes out... many important "quirks" are worked out but i doubt u'd have any real problems with a nissan/infinity go for it!

My roomate just picked his up a couple days ago. It's the 4-door. Very nice. He's even got reclining rear seats. Drives like a sports car when pushed, yet it has a comfortable ride when crusing.

my brother has a g35 coupe and if you were thinking about getting the sedan, fahgetaboutit.. the coupe is as close to the 350z as possible without giving up any comfort or ride quality.. he was going for a 330ci, but after test driving it was no contest.. the g35 handles and performs as if it would cost $10k more..

if i were you considering you've already owned a cl.. i would go for the coupe.. if space is a problem see if the 1/2 a backseat is good enough for ya.. :P

no matter what you're gonna get a good car .

If I were to get any Nissan products, I would ONLY get the G35 coupe. I don't care much for the ZX350, especially that door handle. What look are they trying to for there? Although the Z's are selling like hot-cakes at above sticker price, that just means five to ten years from now, they'll be everywhere and you'll just be another Z owner. The G35 coupe will stand out in class.

I too, am looking for another luxury coupe in the near future. The G35 is a contender, but I'm waiting to see what Acura will release to succeed the CL. But more than likely, I'll shoot for an early model NSX and just not worry about it.

odds are lookin that the "new cl" will be built on the new accord coupe platform.. all i know is IF its rwd and has 280+ hp.. id buy it, just like i would buy a g35 coupe if ii wanted to spend that much..

the thing is i want CHEAP, RELIABLE POWER and those 3 words are what the 350Z, dunno wtf a ZX350 is.., is made of.

like i said before tho.. if ya got the money g35 it up baby..

G35 is what the CL meant to be, and so much more......killer speed, stunning looks, luxury to spoil you, handling that can make your passenger piss his pants, and a price that wont give you a heart attack.....

Either way, G35 coupe or 350Z, the aftermarket is going to be huge for the cars!! Isn't the G35 coupe the new skyline??

If you are going to keep the CL and get the coupe, that's awesome!! That's what I would like to do too, but I don't feel like working for my cars.

350Z all the way. So much more purpose built. I hate how the CL is 1/2 ass luxury then 1/2 ass speed. Pick one path and pursue it. Plus the 350 looks a hella lot better. Plus cheaper.

The 350Z is nice but sometimes the name goes a long way. It's like what would you rather have? A Nissan or Infiniti? Toyota or Lexus? Chevy or Cadallac? Honda or Acura? Right?

I hope you realize that the Body Kit you're talking about retails for $2995.00. You should get a 350Z or the G35 Coupe because they have great things to do to the cars.

I am getting the G35 coupe. No body kits out for it yet. They only have them for the sedan model. I'm thinking black but my CL right now is black and you can see every little nic and scratch on the paint.

Toyota Supra- Discontinued
Chevy tahoe or Cadallac Escalade

I'm saying the more "luxurious" brands you mentioned have never come out with better versions cept for Acura. I have a SC400 and I wish it was a SupraTT instead.

if ya ask me i think the sc400 = pimp compared to the supra even tho its DAMN close.. its beyond me why you put a v8 in it instead of the tt setup found in the supra..

on the other i think acura has done it right so far

and with nissan's new front midship platform(g35,350z,etc..) i think nissan is going to do it just like acura.. meaning g35 with have an upgraded modeling just like the Z, but it will mirror the skyline in japan (im thinking 4.5l(gx45?) awd, and suspension like you have never seen before..) while the Z will possibly get forced induction for tuneability, no awd, and more aggressive suspension than it has now.. just mah 2 cense

as far as chevy or caddy.. its gotta be a caddylack

Pretty good ideas. I was thinking some of the same things. The rumor on the G35 forum is they're making a 2dr hatchback which is fugly (fuckin' ugly) and a AWD model.

hatchback? if it happens infiniti will make it look good..

if it wasnt for my current situation with the law(traffic tickets, dws, etc..) i would have a 350z by the 2004 model year, but from all the horror stories about the 6spd, tires, suspension, and even upgraded brembo brakes i'm gonna wait out the bugs anyway. nissan's new platform is nothing to laugh at right now, its only been around for 2 model years and theres def more to come. i read on my350z.com forums that nissan will be releasing a suprise for the z for each model year for the next 4 years..
2004 = convertible, can't wait till 2005 cause thats when im gettin mine

hate to whore out this thread but it was lookin so god damn good tonight.. btw get g35, but get the coupe

They're making a turbo for the Z and the G. G35 is also going to be coming out with a convertable also. The convertable I'm not 100% sure on but the turbo is a definite. Something to the effect of 400 hp's to the wheels.

Turbo is already out. Greddy and Top Secret already have it on their cars. Supercharger should be out soon also since the maximas running the same VQ engine already have those. But I mean nissan may be coming out with a 350Z TT version from factory.

Oh yea...and its the 350Z that is coming out with the convertible, not the G35. They already have pics too.

Why wouldn't you consider a new 6-speed CL Type-S? It's a personal bias, but I've never liked Nissans, and Infinitis are just overpriced Nissans. The 350Z is a bubble-mobile, and the G doesn't look much better, IMO.

You're looking for sporty performance, classy looks, luxurious amenities, at a reasonable price? I don't think the CL Type-S can be beat!

only reason i think the cl-s is getting dumped is because of the fact its front wheel drive.. if it was rear wheel and had the numbers as others in its class it would definitely be on my list..

in my opinion the 350z and g35 are some of the hottest lookin cars in their price ranges.. just my

FWD: Therefore better in rain and snow, and with computerized traction control just as good on dry roads.

Less HP/torque: Yet it hits max torque at much lower RPMs.

Heavier: By a whopping 13 pounds.

Slower: G35: 5.5/14.2/100. CL-S: 5.9/14.6/98. In other words, an even match where a race depends entirely on the driver.

Uglier: You've got to be kidding! The G35 is hideous.

Too common: I already see bubble-mobile G35s everywhere. The CL-S is a couple of years old; of course there are more of them.

Aftermarket: Only if you care about ricing it out.

To each his own, I suppose. Yet another factor in the Acura's favor is build quality and reliability--the Infiniti looks like a Hyundai inside. The CL-S is less expensive, far roomier, classier, and you don't have to deal with Infiniti's legendary poor customer service.

FWD is aweful for road course, autoX. You can't drift at all either. hits max torque earlier cause it doesn't have max torque. Most CL-S hit around 15.0-15.1 on the track (not sure about the new 6 speeds). Seen alot of 350Zs hitting 14.1 stock on the track (Ask TurboSupra, 2 weekends ago). Plus no torque steer bullshit.

Did he say he wanted a car to take to the track or drive on roads? Yes, you can drift with RWD. But for the 99% of us who never would anyway, FWD is equivalent if not superior.

They actually aren't selling nearly as well as Lexus had hoped. If it wasn't so darn funny-looking I'd be in one myself. As it is, most buyers are Lexus loyalists who would have bought the first convertible Lexus no matter what it looked like.

Why do you think all the "high performance" cars use RWD? :P

Would you rather pull a shopping cart at the grocery store or push it? Which one do you think is more effective?

with these 2 cars it all depends on what you want out of it.. its all the difference between quick now and fast later

g35/cl-s are in the same class yes, but if you want a car that you want to look hot on some rims\with a drop get the cl-s.. if you want the same as above but with some SERIOUS performance, un-matched handling, and superior quality over all(in this class) go for the g35..

ive test driven g35c and s6spd, 350z, cl-s 6spd, and even a wrx(for kicks) in the last 3 weeks... and my pick is the 350z for MY needs..but if you want further refinement i even think the g35 sedan would be better than a cl-s..wrx was a lil short everywhere i looked

oh yeah...hyundai?....go sit in both..tell me what ya think

What are you talking about??? Wait till the new WRX STI comes out and test drive that. If that don't make your butt pucker then either a) you must drive like my grandma or b) you must not know how to drive stick. Is the max speed limit where you live at 25 mph??? How on earth can you say a car that comes twin turbo all wheel drive is a little short everywhere? Unless you mean there isn't many available since the car is so bad ass. And people that seriously know about cars buy them all. The car may be not be very pretty to look at but as far as performance goes you can not get more for you money hands down. I mean Subaru has won how many rally races for how many years on end? Subaru's will run forever on minimum care. Ask anyone with a Subaru how long it took for the car to die. I bet if you asked anyone with a 10 year+ old subaru how many problems they had with the car I bet you the worst thing they would tell you is maybe a flat tire or battery going dead which has nothing to actually do with the car itself.

Just for those of you that dont know about the Subaru WRX STI here are a few Mechanical specs on the car. All of this is stock. Pulled from their site.

http://impreza.subaru.com/microsites...za/wrc/wrc.jsp

300-horsepower @ 6,000 rpm, 300 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4,000 rpm
2.5-liter intercooled and turbocharged 4-cylinder boxer engine with Active Valve Control System (AVCS)
Full-time All-Wheel Drive (AWD) with Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD)
Mechanical limited-slip rear differential
Suretrac viscous limited slip front differential
4-wheel fully independent sport-tuned suspension with inverted struts
6-speed manual transmission with short-throw shifter

#1) The WRX is NOT Twin Turbo. Its a single.
#2) STi and WRX are totally different cars...The WRX isn't even iron sleeved or contain forged internals. Its still on an alum block. The WRX has no top end. It starts to lose ass after 100. The 350 takes it on highway speeds, seen many videos.
If you're gonna be that adamant in something atleast get your shit straight first.
