Oil leak- help please

I have an oil leak from the front (by passenger wheel) of the engine on my daughter's 97 3.0. It is not leaking from the top of the engine, but somewhere directly (or close) to above the oil filter and where it joins the block. Is this common? How easy of a fix? Thanks, Dan.

The site is not letting me upload a pic

Is there a reason I can't upload a pic? Do I need a certain number of posts first?

Any idea why I can't upload it here? It acts like it's working and then just says Failed to Upload. Thanks, Dan.

Is the oil pan a pretty common problem on this car? Easy or not so easy to do?

I'd attempt to clean everything off so that you have a clean slate to see where the oil is coming from, it's hard to tell

Thanks guys! Rear Main? Isn't that on the rear of the engine? This is on what I would consider the front, by the passenger wheel. Any other ideas?

Does the 3.0 have an oil pressure switch/sending unit like the 2.2/3's do? Never owned a honda 4cyl over 100k miles that didn't need it replaced. Makes an awful mess like that too.

I have no idea where the vtec solenoid is located on the 3.0 but I would always consider that as a possible leak point

Could be the oil pump, my car has a leak in the same place. It took the acura techs forever to find the source though because the oil leaks down over everything.

Kind of an old post but its most likely the VTEC solenoid gasket or the gasket for the oil filter plate
