Oil in intake manifold - what to do

Think there is a lot of oil in my intake manifold all the time.. if I pull the PCV valve while the engine is running, the oil squirters throw the oil around enough that I believe some is being drawn up past the PCV valve and through the hose. How do I get the oil out? Will Seafoam draw it through the system and help to burn it? Is there any way to catch the oil before it gets to the intake manifold?

Either your PCV valve is clogged or ur fucked.
Fucked means your oil rings are fried and allowing pressure to enter your head therefore pushing oil into your intake

It's always helpful if you put your year and trim in your profile or signature somewhere

All PCV systems experience some oil mist being drawn into the manifold and the oil is typically burned up by the engine. How much oil is your engine consuming?

If your engine is worn out and experiencing a lot of "blow-by" because of lack of oil changes for instance, it could be forcing oil back through your intake manifold. Pulling a PCV valve out of any running engine will cause oil to splash out of the hole.. that's why if you look at your PCV valve, you will see the bottom has a small hole in it and the fitting in the VC is a tight rubber gasket. That design is to prevent the oil from being sucked or splashed out of the crankcase.

I had a 1990 Integra that had a really worn out engine. It smoked like an SOB on cold mornings and used a quart of oil every 500 miles. Its PCV system was completely clogged with sludge and oil. After getting the top end rebuilt, I had to remove the PCV hose and spray it out with brake parts cleaner. I then used 2 cans of Honda Top End Engine Cleaner (avail from your dealer for about $5 per can) to clean the intake and ports. worked like a charm!

lol Chris
Listen two easy ways of doing this.
Remove your PCV from the valve cover and with the engine running block the little hole with your finger. You should hear a click and feel sucking. The way it works is you have the PCV as a vacuums. The hose from your intake tube is to compensate and balance air flow because the PCV should suck all pressure from your head then take fresh air.

Second scenario is if your oil rings are fucked. Simply remove the dip stick with car running and place a sensitive part of your hand to feel is air is coming out. There shouldn't be any. If there is you might want to start saving.

the easies way to check for blowby is just to remove the oil cap with the engine running then place your hand an inch above it, if you feel lots of air shooting out then ur piston rings are fucked OR the engine has not been cared for properly and excessive amounts of carbon have build up on the piston ring grooves if thats the case i would add 8oz of tranny fluid to the engine oil to help loosen up all the crap in the engine. Lucas works great for worn engines.
