OBX header leak?
OBX header leak?
I just installed my OBX headers on my 2.2 this weekend and ever since I have been hearing a whooshing/ticking sound. I did a search but i couldn't find a definate answer. Is this sound normal? or could I have a leak? I checked around all the gaskets and I couldn't feel anything. It seems to be loudest when I'm accelerating around 3000rpm and then dies off. I was just wondering if any one else had this problem. Thanks

Congrats on the 1000 posts
I read in one post that this sound could be from imperfections inside the header itself. Could this be what I'm hearing? Because I can't feel a leak around any of the seals or gaskets. The niose just bugs me. It makes my car sound like a hoop-d.
You answered your own question by the brand of the product. OBX Headers are not made with 'good' material. Cheap performance, cheap products. Have you thought of routes of DC Headers? Anything but OBX..
That's just like saying, hey why did my motor blow on this SS Autochrome turbo kit.
If you need help locating parts, PM me i'llbe glad to help. I hate seeing nice cars with products that arent good for it.

yea obx isnt too bad. As for gasgets, the one between the Header and block, use a NEW oem one. And the one between the header and down pipe sucks so much balls. if its still in good condition take it somewhere to get copied. they custom make gasgets at some parts places, have them make u 2 extra.
OBX headers are fine its just the gaskets that suck I'm not going to pay $300 bucks for bent tubing (DCSports).
So I took my car to work today and and tried to see if I could feel any leaks and I found one. Where the header meets the downpipe. It's rite near the front cross member so you have to burn your arm to get to it. But yea I have a leak this sucks. Its not too bad but it still needs to be fixed.
What part places? You don't mean Advanced Auto or Autozone do you?

ya know. usually its the mom n pop places that do this. goto a muffler shop near you, they should be able to direct u. i had to goto Tuning Depot (online) to get mine, it was $25 shipped. it pissed me off.
Hey I have a cold air intake and a tsudo n1 exhaust (apexi knock off, I know) but my question, is how much louder would my car be with headers? When I put the intake on and took the resonator out it made it a lot louder, and the exhaust obviously made it louder, just about the loudest I want it. O and sorry for the
Im still running stock exhaust so i cant say firsthand, but a header shouldnt make your exhaust much louder if any at all, but it will change the sound a little bit. It may sound a tad raspy or crickety.
