New Tires

If I were to put 215/45/16 tires on my stock wheels without the car being lowered, would it look stupid? Or make the fender gap larger? Also, has anyone tried Yokahama Paradas on their CL?

Ya I have the Parada's on my Cl and they are awsome. As for the tire size I Am not sure but I think that will leave a gap. I have 18" rims wrapped in 225/35r18 size tires and when I compared that to the original tires I had they were about the same size. I even lowered my car with Eibach prokit and I still have about an inch gap between the tire and fender.

215/45/16's are 599mm or 23.62" which is over an inch smaller in diameter than the stocks (24.9"). So expect another half inch of wheel gap.

Staying with the stock size, what kind of tires has everyone bought? I need a new set, but do get a bit of snow & ice in upstate NY. Does anyone have the Dunlop D60s? Thanks,
-Eric

You can't fit 225's on the narrow 6" stock wheels. IMO, the 205's are stretching it a bit (my 2.5RS had 205's on a 7" wide wheel and my WRX came with 205's on a 6.5" wide wheel).

Paradas are part of Yoko's "tuner" lineup, which puts a priority on cool looks, low profiles, longevity, and comfort, but not maximum stick. If you want sticky tires, get their AVS Sports or Bridgestone's S-03PP.

D60's are just like any all season tire... fairly quiet, mediocre in the snow, mediocre in the dry, and mediocre in the wet. I live in upstate NY and have summer tires for the summer and a set of winter tires on different rims for the winter. It's one of the best $400 (for winter tires on steel rims) I've ever spent, considering they've kept me out of ditches and walls. Never been stuck either in the CL.

Oh yeah, going to 215/45 will give you shorter gearing, which results in lower gas mileage, a speedometer that reads fast, and an odometer that starts to show more miles than you've actually traveled.

If you do get 225's, you should get wheels that are at least 7" wide.

I went with Michelin Pilots... I wanted to stick w/ michelin since i've had good luck with them, but the MXV4's were too expensive IMO. The pilots were a little cheaper and work good so far.

There're a lot of Pilots... SX, HX, MXM, Sport, GT, XGTZ4, XGTZ, XGTV4, etc... the all season stuff (ends in 4) is pretty decent (for an all season) but pricey. The higher end summer Pilots are great, but too expensive compared to the Bridgestone S03PP's or the Yoko AVS Sport.
