^ exactly right, and to simplify, it's like a short term battery that can expel a lot of power in a short amount of time, so when the bass hits it pulls power from the cap and not the battery and over time the cap is recharged again by the battery. Also if you reverse the ground and power wires, it's like a shrapnel bomb because it will just explode, and my buddy kept reminding me of that fact as i was hooking it up, and he was on the other side of the car

first off, ZeroCL is right about dynamat, but just to inform you guys thinking about getting some, it doesn't completely get rid of the rattling, you will still hear some rattling in the trunk because it's just a mat that you lay ontop, and i dunno what the differences are between having dynamat or not having dynamat because i haven't had a system in the cl untill now. But it's just basically sheets of an almost tar like substance with a layer of thick foil ontop. OK and now here are some pics of my HU install kit for saucycg
i didn't read the whole thread but have you tried electrical tape on the metal latch on the trunk.(circled in red) i heard that this helps the rattling.

^ naw i haven't heard of that, i might give it a try in the spring or so tho, cuz not too much bumpin of the system in the winter time around here, but i haven't really noticed that part of the trunk moving, the part where the lid comes up to the back window, you can see it vibrating like crazy when i push the subs hard. not too worried bout it tho, my license plate is the loudest and will be resolved right away, followed by pinpointing all interior rattles if possible.
and here are some pics of the custom box by itself, thought i might put these up now since the thread got bumped, and also cuz i told blackack i was gonna put these up like months ago btw this box doesn't budge at all in my trunk, it's not currently bolted down but fits so snugly that it's a bitch to take out
^this is the way it sits in the trunk, like if you were to look at it from the back of the car, it's kinda lopsided but it is custom made for a cl, with apparently like 7 layers of fiberglass or something
^this is a pic of the inside where you can see a little bump, that's an indentation for the little bracket that sticks up inside the spare tire well that the rim gets screwed onto

haha no, a flatbed to get my car home would be like 80, 80 bux for one time it might happen, but for all that extra space in my trunk well worth it IMO, and i'd usually call my bro to bring a good jack from home to change a tire anyways, so now he'll just bring the jack and my tire.
a flat tire would only come in handy on something like a long trip, as it takes maximum like 45 mins to go from one side to the other in my city, but for those trips i could just throw a spare and jack in the trunk temporarily
and it's not like i've never had a flat either, i had 3 on my previous car, but i never trust those crappy scissor jacks, escpecially when you try to rest them on ice or snow(cuz most of my flats would happen in winter), almost cracked a sideskirt once cuz the jack slipped on the snow, and went right into the side skirt bending it out. it was all good when i gave it a hard ass kick tho
you could also check if acura has roadside assistance for cheap, cuz from GM for my last car it was like 60 bux for a year, and that included like 5 tows of up to $100 value each time

For rattling, you can also tighten the rubber stoppers on the trunk so it sits flatter

^^thats a good idea also. after removing the 3rd brakelight, adjusting the rubber trunk stoppers and a good 2 layers of dynamat the only thing that rattles is the headliner from time to time. i just punch it and it goes away

You wanna talk about problems with stereo's... I'm pretty sure my starter is going out, I need a new front battery, need to get on the big 3, thinking about re-doing my entire trunk so that I actually have a trunk (and a spare tire)... In order to start my car, I have to shut off the stereo and "pump" the clutch a couple of times after the beeping stops... It's awesome...

On the trunk lid, there are 2 rubber knobs or stoppers that can be screwed in tighter, they control how the trunk sits, because it rests on them. There's one on each side of the lid when it's open look on the outside edges, they're there in the corners, you can see them in this pic

the cap is just a short term power draw solution for hard bass notes etc... because i haven't seen my lights dim, although my revs do drop a little if i have it really loud, anyone know what could be the fix for that? bigger alternator? prolly big-3? anything else?
and thanks blackack i'll check my trunk when i get a chance and see if it can make a difference, or i'll prolly just write it down on my list of things to do when this whole "winter" thing dissapears

I've been talking to a guy with a 2.2 accord and he has a red top and Kinetik 800 running on the stock alternator... The idea of the Kinetiks is that they're easy on the alternator, which (according to their claims) also allows them to discharge faster...

I already have a Kinetik 600 in my car right now... It's awesome... Before I hooked it up, I had lights dimming everywhere (headlights, interior, map lights, gauges, you name it) and after about an hour (taking everything apart and all) got the HC600 hooked up. took the car right down the road to an area with far less people to piss off, and absolutely blasted the system with all the lights on, ac on, everything. Nothing happened, and everything worked great. I love my 600. SO much power for pretty small amount of money, and the battery itself is small as all get out... I probably won't need it after a big 3, but it's always nice if I run the stereo with the car off, etc. Plus, everything's set up if I can get a buddy to buy my amp and pick up a Hifonics 1000...

^hmmmmm. that would actually make a lot of sense, since i could run the system with the car off till the battery gets real low, and the car will still start fine cuz it would be a different battery that would be cranking the engine, if only i hadn't already hooked it up like this, and if i could find a buyer for my cap, and if i could find some extra space, possibly under the amp in the leftover space in the spare tire well part to put the battery.... to many "if"s though, too much for me as i don't really have much money right now+unemployed+going to college.
Just looked at that 600 and wow it is small too, and prolly would work out to the same or less money than i paid for my cap
or maybe i'll just get my alternator respun to produce more power, dunno yet tho

I dunno what your box does with the little "slot" in the front of the spare tire well, but I was going to put my 600 there... It'll fit, but I have 3 ring terminals coming off of each post, and therefore, it won't fit under the stock floor. Since you're doing a false floor, you could build it at whatever height would work for you. I think I payed around 200 for my whole rear battery set-up. battery-$130, ring terminals (got ripped off)- ~$40, circuit breaker- ~$40...
If you don't want your system to pull from your front battery while the car's off, you have to put a relay in the middle of the two batteries somewhere (I didn't do this, I just wired them together with a nice big 1/0 awg wire). If you have any other questions about it, let me know. I'd be more than happy to help...

^my spare tire well is basically just like stock since the box only goes as far as the spare tire would, but my floor height to squeeze the battery into would be just the same as stock since the wood "tray" holding the amp and cap is screwed in to the floor beside the spare tire well. i think i'm just gonna leave my setup for now, unless i end up adding some more power (in the summer time). Which might happen, i need more bass, either w6's or w3's and run the amp at 1 ohm, or else i'd have to get all new amps+subs which would be kind of costly
btw why are you going with a hifonics amp now, i thought you were gonna get a rockford 1000?

Looking at the cost... I almost had my amp sold for like 70-80% of what the hifonics would've cost me... Trust me, I'd love to have a Rockford T1000.1, but I just can't afford it right now... Maybe that'll be the first expense of summer... Switching up the box this month and doing Big 3 while I'm at it...

Ill probably be running a Kinetik soon enough, either the 800 or the 1400 to replace my primary, cool thing is I dont need the cranking amps that you guys do, oh how I remember those days
