New Rims Refinished!!
Trending Topics
i paid about 350 for the tires and rims. fixed ALL of the curb rash off the wheels ALL BY MYSELF. polished the lip using metal polish and a buffer about 8 times a wheel. taped off lip CAREFULLY ( ive seen alot of ugly taping jobs off the internet and decided not to be one of them) so that there would be a nice round and even line. painted and dried indoors. total time to complete was about 12-15 hours.
didnt want to powercoat because i painted my current rims, drove them all through this winter, and they are NOT peeling/chipping/flaking at all. I guess i do a pretty good job painting hahah. i enjoy doing things like this.

there is alot of diys out there. idont really feel like doing it. check the "similar threads" at the bottom and click on my other thread a while ago.
the way i got rid of the curb rash was i basically sanded it down until all metal around the area was smooth. used 60, 220, 400, 800, 1000, 2000 grit sandpaper. then at the end i just kept on ploishing the lip. this was alot easier for me cuz the tires were off.

o and another thing that was a pain when doin this was i had to tape over ALL the rivets around the rim because they dont come off. i had to tape off 100 rivets, cut them and them peel them all off individualy. ahha i was goin crazy because it took me so damn long. lucky it was done indoors. im wondering if i should have just polished the rivets. would it look better? damn, o well, maybe ill do it later cuz i dont want to ruin the paint.
yea, u can use some filler or bondo for fixing curb rash but u have to paint over them and u cant have polished wheels.
never thought about what i would have done with the center caps, but painting them the same color might sounds like a good idea....

i used duplicolor primer, color and clear because i had them laying around. good paint but if your a newb at painting then you are gonna drip and spray fat drops of paint everywhere
For those that want to learn how to do it, give this link a try.
