New problems
Hey guys, I appreciate all the advice I have been given so far, and I am about to ask for more. This morning when I get in the car to go to work, I start pulling out and it starts jerking, the CEL starts flashing, and the light around the gear indicator on the cluster is flashing as well. The rpms dont shoot up like it is slipping, but the speedo zooms up to about 100 mph. It dosnt do it at cruising speed, only when pulling out from a stop or very low speed rolling start. I have talked to every mechanic I know and none think it is the tranny going. They all think it is some sort of electric problem or maybe even vaccum lines. You all have alot more personal experience with these trannys than me or them, what I need to know is, do you think the tranny is the problem?

holy shit u have an AUTO and you've been excessively pushing it like that?! Thats insane! Damn i thought u had a 2.3 manual. If its not your tranny failing on you, its probably either an eletrical issue of some sort. I had a similar issue in my manual and it was my Map Sensor or something of the sort and it actually went away on its own, for now at least.

The whole misfire thing is possible, I dont think they even changed the plugs when they did the head gasket. It dosnt slip, it just jerks really bad with all the flashy lights.

Okay...I'll bite. How much? PM if necessary. Thing is, The dealership will prob be covering alot of it if it is a rebuild, but doing a swap might be all me. I would really love to do the 5 speed coversion.

shippings on you. Packings on me.
Been there done that. If you aren't planning on spending big bucks to make one hell of a car then don't bother. Just sell it and buy a 5 speed.
BTW these new PMs blow. No sence of privacy. Everyone can view what you write. Its crap.

Sweet! I will definitely keep it in mind. It is a direct bolt on conversion right? As for the 5 speed thing, eventually it plus h22 Will happen. Probably Start it with income tax refund. Figgering on hving it done in the next year or so. Right now I am investigating a possible TCM malfunction for my problem. Thing is, I cant find anyone that sells them in case I need one. Hell, I dont even know where it is located in the car. I am convinced the tranny isnt gone. It seems electrical to me. Maybe it is wishful thinking.

I even have a 2.2 Ecu/tcm. They come in one box integrated. Worst thing honda even did. Seems like the 97 suffered when it came for everything then the 98-99 came. Assholes.
5speed will cost you as it did me but it was worth it for me with the things im doing

Allrighty then, went to Acura today to have the warranty work done on the emissions equipment. They replaced both o2 sensors, rebuilt the egr valve, replaced the rotor, distributor cap, plug wires and plugs and did an oil change. More importantly they saw a mysteriously loose bolt on the underside of the intake manifold. turns out the bolt was supposed to have a ground wire attached to it, instead it was just sitting there resting against the manifold, not attached. So when I would press the gas the wire would move and lose contact against metal and basically kill the car for a second. Then the jerking would give it contact again and on and on. So, tranny is perfect, or so acura says. It was a loose ground wire left from the retard mechanic that did the head job.
SupraManAG, Thanks for the offer of parts, but I guess I dont need them.
