New CL owner.

Just wanted to say hello to the forums. This is my first time owning a cl. It is a 1997 4cy. Im buying the car from my dad who has owned it for the past 6 years. It was lowered with sport lines on 17's when he bought it. Since then we've changed the shocks and installed a camber kit. The car now rides on a set of 18" konig blatant wheels. Looking forward to Adding my "touch" to the car. Good to find such a good site with people that know what there talking about. I will also share my knoledge whenever i can be a help to someone else. the car needs some work and has a bad problem right now with the upper camber bolt on the drivers front hitting the shock tower actually causing a big dent. but i think i can make her look real nice.

sorry the car is dirty in all the pics im in the process of wet sanding with 2000 and buffing the whole car. shes shinning up real nice

mines got the automatic and its at 138,000. Dont really ever run her hard got the 4cyl to get outta drivin my v8 all day. Been toyin with the idea of tradin out some work with a buddy to get a h22 swap plus he'll install. Just dont want to take away from the reliablity of the car. Its a blue im not sure the exact code or name. and im in columbia sc. Really got to fix the camber kit problem. Its got they kyb gr2. Which i know are not good shocks on the sportline drop. Will switchin up the shocks do away with the camber kit problem? Was lookin at a set of the ingalls whole new upper control arm setup but if a new set of shocks will do thats defiently cool. also The nut on the top of my camber kit dosent thread down but probably half way. Its come loose once on my dad and was loose again when i checked it the other day so i put some blue locktite on it tightened it back down. Thank everybody for the warm welcoming. I will also be more than happy to help anybody with and paint and body related questions. I work at a GM dealerships body shop.

yes i was wetsanding the car with 2000 grit sandpaper. The car has acid rain etched in the clear all over. I was just sanding enough to finish knocking off the facory texture and get the "etched" gone. It will be fine because i waxed it and didnt take off enough clear to hurt anything.

honestly with your situation you might as well do the swap because at sometime you will have to rebuild the tranny you could be at a full H22 swap with that money.

Hmm... like water spots that don't come off? I have that too... Barely noticable tho.

welcome! looks like you have a good start. For the camber issue, new shocks wont solve it. You need to invest in the camber kit you saw, and some kyb agx's to go with the sportlines and it'll feel a lot better.

Just giving a heads up on some of the many mods to come. Not much done with the engine other than a good set of spark plugs and wires. Trying to decide if i want a cai or short ram. . the car has some cheap ractive muffler on it now, planning on the obx header and a high flow cat. I want close to stock sound with some growl when the gas is stomped. Might be replacing all the interior bulbs with white leds on friday when i get paid. Ive already started installing some blue under dash led accents. Still trying to figure out some body mods that i can do to set it apart from others. Thinking about getting the CF hood and partially painting it.

Ordered a cold air intake off of ebay last night got a 2 piece one so when it comes in i can measure the pipe and order a bypass valve. should i be able to get a good K&N filter at autozone or should i just get one off of ebay? almost got the leds done to light up under the dash just gotta figure out how to wire them.

If you want it quiet with a growl when you get on it... that is what I have. Short ram and an Apex'i WS2 catback. The exhaust is near silent.

This is exaclty what I want. I want nice sounding exhaust. Not a loud one. When I'm in 5th gear, I don't want to hear it. Can you hear the Apexi at all when cruising? (Sorry for the side thread)

The Apex'i is near stock volume. The only thing I really hear personally is the intake, but friends of mine said the exhaust can be heard when I shoot past them. Car is pretty much silent at cruising speed... I used to have a loud exhaust on my accord but it's just not worth the unwanted attention.

just went with the color from the outside of the car. didnt want it to stand out too much. Yea the paint turned out really good, only took me bout an hour to prep paint and clear all the pieces cept for the climate piece. thought about trying to airbrush carbon fiber on them but I dont want to go too overboard. Anybody on here shaved their body side moldings?

looks sooo much cleaner. my door moldings have soo many dings and shit on it from other cars, it sucks. I wish he didnt cut that hole on that back bumper and instead had the tips come out from under the kit like some of the Vip cars have, that would have looked sickkk.
