New CL owner

I must say, I am damn proud of this car. I bought a 97 3.0 about two months ago, and I am in love. I have a '94 Galant, which I think is more fun to drive, but this CL is so sexy and comfortable. I'm trying to sell my Galant for 1000-1200, and I plan on putting that towards upgrading my CL. I have never been into cars really, but my CL has sparked this new interest for me. So, I am admittedly a n00b, but I hope to really get into this hobby and start turning heads after a few months.
Forgive me if I ask some stupid questions every now and then, I am starting from nothing.. keep that in mind. I have been reading these forums since a little before I bought my own, but sometimes old posts just don't give you the answers you're looking for.. especially for someone who knows basically nothing about cars.
I would die to have a car like nippon's, but that is far in the future I suppose.
My CL was sold to me as "Pewter", but I'm not sure if that's the real name for my color? I'm looking into a drop, some wheels, and a front and rear lip. At least to start with.
Well, this was mostly to introduce myself to the forum, but any suggestions or feedback is greatly appreciated.
If you had a person to mentor, I am your guy. I'm starting from square one, but I have big hopes and much ambition.
Good day to all you, and I hope to contribute to this fine place for years to come

Well, I was only in the market for an auto. I deliver pizzas when I'm home from college, and I find myself driving enough with my knees as it is already (eating, drinking, smoking, using a map, checking addresses, etc.)..

One question: Under my glovebox, there is this small white cylindrical fan that makes a lot of noise half the time I drive. I've unscrewed all the casings around it and sprayed it with some grease, but it won't stop squealing. Any ideas? I think it may need some tightening, but I'm not sure if/how I should do that.
Any help?

3.0>2.x

and Welcome to the cult

Don't worry about people flaming you, it will happen, but most of us are very knowledgable and helpful, just search, and try to ask educated questions is all we ask. Asking for clarity is one thing, asking something that has been asked in 200 threads is another. We will have fun with you, just take it in stride, and enjoy your quest to make your 3.0 great.

Well, I hate for this to be my first post, but I had to chime in since I'm in the same boat as shnee420. I just recently bought a 97' 3.0, and I love this car as well. I've been reading these forums for the last couple of weeks and am very glad that there is a one-stop place for info on this badass car. But for all you 3.0 haters out there, remember this, while your whizzin around shifting gears and shit, I'm getting head and twistin blunts in luxury....

I'll get some pics up shortly, still stock @ the moment but plan on doing some upgrades soon........

Well I'm glad to be here, you all seem like standup folks
I'm already starting to get things rolling, what do you think of this package
I also have plans to pick up some clear corners, get a prokit, and whatever tint I feel I can get away with.
The tint law in MD is 35% I believe, but I think I'm going to go with the 20%. My friend has 20% and has been pulled over numerous times, never getting shit for it.

Still don't know what to do about this squealing fan.. besides turning up the stereo.

The fan problem you are having sounds like a failed motor bearing. You may need to replace the "squirrel cage" fan. It is a real pain in the ass though. I had to do it in my Teg, and it sucked ass. I'm glad my 3.0, by the way which is > 2.x, has not had that problem. The squirrel cage will run you proll $300 at a dealer, but if there is a salvage near you, you can prolly get it for closer to $50 to $75. Good luck, and again, welcome.

No problem, I hope it helps. Oh, I forgot to mention. If you used WD40 as a lubricant to try and fix your fan... BAD idea. I tried that once and it worked for about a week. Then one day, I came home and smelled something burning in my bedroom. My stand fan had seized and cooked the motor. The problem is that the WD40 cleans the grease out and then the bearing failes completely. Good luck bro.
