New alternator prices?

So, i came to the conclusion that the problem with my audio cutting out might be because my alternator is dying. For those of you that dont know, my music cuts off when i first start my car then a little while later (usually when i get the car moving) it starts up again. I checked and double checked all the wires/grounds/etc. Everything seems fine.

Anyways, I was wondering what the current output of our alternators are and where/how much can i get a higher output one for? thanks

i believe the current output is like 75 or 80 and on ebay they sell alternators which are double that.

well, ive done it 6 times or so and it now takes 15 mins... if you have a set of sockets and the right open ended wrench you shouldnt have too much trouble, look up dustbuster's copy of the instructions on alternator removal... they are good, you have to take one of the fans out... the belt tensioner can be a bitch, watch those knuckles.

It depends on which engine you have. They do make a 180 amp alternator for the six cylinder but the biggest they make for the 4 cylinder is 150 amp.
