Need help with my grill

I was checking out some of the grills that people have done on their CL's and I would like to do the same. I took mine off of my 98 2.3 today to take a look at it. My silver trim seems to be molded onto that black grill deal. Could anybody help me and let me know how to change it? I have the cutter guard to put in their. I am just confused about the molded part. I took some pics of it as well, take a look at them at the link and please let me know how to do it. Thanks a lot.

that grill is a little harder to me but i know someone on here has done it with their 98 and dremeled it out and then made a grill insert. i have the 97 and mine unskrewed out. you can get a grill and mold it over and then skrew on your "a" emblem. but im not one to talk since i have a 97 but you can see pics of mine on my webpage.

Hey no need to dremel. I have the 99 grille on my car and i just put the mesh on top over it. The underlying grille gives it a 3d effect. Check out the pics Sorry i cant get the pics up right now, but it comes out nice, try it yourself. Plus, do you really want to cut up your 120 buck oem grille?

Thanks, thats the first pic of my car i ever posted on the forum. Yeah that is an eibach sticker down there, i just recieved the springs and shocks in the mail and i am getting them installed this week. But i washed and waxed my car for pics, since it has been cold and shitty in RI, and i put the stickers on before the springs are in. Right now i am doing a little custom badging, springs/shocks and some painting. I will take more pics when everything is all installed.

Grill looks good

Ya, your grill looks good man. How did you put it over the molded stuff and have the emblem stick out as well?

Ok,you should search this, but i am bored and will tell you anyway! Go to home depot or another store and buy gutter guard, thin silver wire and tin snips. 1. Take your grille out, and the emblem off. Take the emblem off after you tke the grille out, less chance of losing screws under the engine. 2. Next, get a thin peice of cardboard and make an exact cutout of the grille you want to mesh. Everything between the chrome outline. 3. Take the cardboard and trace it onto the mesh. Be extra carefull with the upper and lower corners of the grille, i had to cut mesh like 4 times to line it up perfect. 4. Put the mesh over the grille and cut out small holes where the screws go through behind the emblem. 5. Attach the emblem and then do final trimming while the mesh is attached to the grille. 6. Slide pieces of wire through the mesh's holes and twist them together in the back. Instant mesh grille.
** Becareful, i cut my finger real bad on the mesh, it is mad sharp after you cut it! I got a scar from it!**

On the 98 grill unlike the 97 is a 1 piece grill. I just made a carboard template about a 1/4 inch bigger and form fitted it right over my existing grill and basically pushed the whole grill with the mesh right back in place. Just be careful take your time and don't scratch the ride..... The next thing I will do is cut around the Acura emblem...that will be a lil more tricky then making the grill, so good luck...
