Need help.....guyz

My back rear passenger side brake.....is locked. When i try to drive the car, the brake is preventing me from going anywhere. I mean i can drive but the brake is engaged.

Its like the emergency brake is stuck on that side or something, plus the last time I drove my car my rotor was bright red..........What you guys think is the problem.

can i just unlock it myself.........I am prbly gonna take it to mineke or someplace.

what ya'll think?

plus the ABS light came on.

Possibly a seazed brake caliper? If this is the case you will need a new brake caliper.

Bright red rotor? DUDE - you are risking catching some shit on fire. Your pads are probably disentagrated by now too unless you have some fancy racepads (which you prob don't).

Sounds like the E brake is stuck or the caliper is seized. Open the center console, pull out the bottom tray. Look at the two e-brake cables and move the handle up and down and watch them.

It prob has something to do with the fact that the rear caliper uses a "screw" design to facilitate the emergency/parking brake feature.

Standard calipers work by pushing outward towards the pads (duh lol). On the rear calipers on the CL, they actually come out in a rotating fashion, as if you were using a screwdriver to twist it out. The cables from the handle in the car twist the calipers out creating the same pressure the fluid does. It sounds like the caliper is stuck out and you are driving around with the pads locked on the rotor, and they are burning up. You should be able to take it to any reputabe brake shop. You'll prob need a new caliper on that side, plus new rotors and pads on both sides. Prob ought to change the calipers on both sides while you are at it. They also might be able to get your caliper unstuck with some lube, but who knows if it might happen again (rust? salt corrosion? old? all of these?).

im pretty sure the caliper is toast. if ur brakes are worn enough ur caliper could come completly out of the sleeve and get stuck out. ur gonna need a new rotor and pads also. be careful with brake places cause they love to charge alot of money for a cheap job. before u go just remove the wheel and smack the side of the caliper with a hammer. this may break away the e-brake if its stuck on.
