Mounting 7in lcd screen in dash

Hey all im kinda new here and iv been looking around the threads a lot and getting some ideas for my 97 3.0CL. well the first thing i want to start on is putting a new head unit in the car and a lcd screen. I dont want a HU with a retractable screen "97CL22" and "nippon_wa" have the idea i want. where the stock HU and the little compartment under it is i want to mount a 7in lcd screen like this:

(first on is 97CL22's set up and second picture is nippon_wa's set up)

nippons has a lot of custom work im not interested in going that deep in this project. well my problems are i dont know what lcd screen to get and where i would put the head unit. im getting the Pioneer DVH-P5000MP for the HU, one idea some friends form bwimports.org said was maybe cutting out a place under the screen like where the ash try and cig lighter currently is and mounting the HU there. the only thing i didnt like about that was my shifter knob would probably be in the way when i wanted to insert a cd so i would have to move it back just to insert a cd or would have to look into getting a smaller shifter knob. Alright well thats what i want to do and i need some help guys. thanks.
