Need help getting stock stereo to work!

I just installed the stock deck I bought from SooDark a few months back because my CD player stopped reading CD's. Well the only difference between ours is his says bose on it and mine doesnt but I was told that doesn't matter. Well the new deck will take teh CD but doesn't have any sound, the radio works fine. Aren't there only 2 connections, one for the antenna and one that plugs into the deck? What am I doing wrong?

Proaudio? any of you hoppers?

The aftermarket player needs a converter to mate with the bose amplifier signal. <<< never tried this method.... I ended up rewiring everything.

it's not aftermarket, i'm trying to reinstall another stock head unit, however it's from a 2.3 not a 3.0. The only difference is that one says bose. I was told both units are the same except for just the lettering. I guess it appears this isn't true

I didn't think the 2 were compatible.

I still have my stock Bose headunit if you need it.

proaudio thought they were identical. If they weren't compatable I would of figured the radio wouldn't work either

Does the headunit look like this in the rear?

Come to think of it, I think the harnesses are universal on 1990-1997 Honda products.

Yes, the 1990-97 harnesses are the same for most of the hondas and acuras (with the exception of the Passport-- the Isuzu SUV). The non-bose stock unit will not work with the cars originally equipted with the bose units (if you plugged it in directly to the car's harness). That non-bose unit is "like" an aftermarket unit...it has an internal amp...that can pass signals directly to a speaker.

Scott,

I know that all '99 CL's were Premiums, but only the 3.0 got the Bose System. The '99 2.3CL Premium got the "regular" headunit.

For an aftermarket unit, just hardwire the aftermarket harness to the stock wires, and bypass the stock amp (or run all new wires to your speakers/power source/ground/aftermarket amp [if you have one], etc.).

The diagram I posted above should help you with hardwiring the aftermarket headunit's harness.

Maybe your car dont have a bose system?? Check in the trunk on the pass side behind the tail light for the amp. Since his said bose and your's didn't.

try not connecting the bose amp. perhaps the amp is confusing stuff.

and if you have a BEST BUY somewhere nearby, tey're running an ad right now saying free install on CD decks 99 bucks and up.

You can bypass the amp and it should work. That's what I did with my new HU and it works fine. It's the same concept vs the bose HU.

I was under the impression that his was bose and your's wasn't. It's not going to work I'd just keep your stock deck and buy a changer. That be the cheapest alternative. You can get one for around a $100.

Did I read the first post correctly? There is no audio on a CD but the radio does work fine (IE you can hear it?). If you have audio playing from the speakers with the radio, something inside the player is messed up. It's either all or nothing.

I dunno bro, I was pretty sure they were the same thing. All the Bose amp does is add their supid ass EQ and reamp the signal to be compatable with their $.99 2ohm speakers. The Bose amp will take an amped signal from another source (IE aftermarket radio) so stock should just be the standard radio. I can test mine for you if you need to be sure audio will play, but I gather you do have some audio from the radio...
