need advice before purchace..........

hey, Im new to the fourm and need some help. Ive been driving a honda accord and recently got rear ended by a guy who wasn't paying attention and they totaled my car. Ive found a 97 2.2CL 5-speed for 6500 here in charlotte and think its a really good deal EXCEPT it was a northern car, it has rust on the frame (severe on the back) and a bit of surface rust under the hood on everything. the body is in PERFECT condition, and the inside is too except for a small rip in the drivers side leather. Is it really worth it for this car? or would i be better off waiting to find somthing a bit better? (more then likely still a CL)

and a few other questions:
1.) what years did the bose sound system come in? this 97 with leather (premium?) didn't seem to have the bose. it just said acura on the head unit.

2.) where can i find wiring harnesses that might need to be replaced because of the the rust and corsion?

3.) where and how much would just the drivers side seat cost to get a new leather surface for it (OEM is my pref) i would change it all my self.

4.) is the 2.2 and 2.3 that much of a difference besides the engine? did they change anything else between 97 and 98 besides the engine?

well your better off without the bose if your going to be putting in a system (speakers/hu) alot easier to install(you dont have to bypass the bose amps) try offering them a little lower? how many miles are on it?

i think its a bit over priced, go on ebay. no rust is good. some rust will lead to more rust.

i'd say hold off..
also, no offence to the 97 owners, but according to my buyer's guide for used cars:

the 97 and 98 CL are like two different cars. the electrical, motor, transmission, and brake problems you might encounter in a 97 are dealt with in the 98-99 models....

I wouldn't buy it!

Granted, I'm not waaaayyyy up north, my CL has seen quite a bit of snow/salt, and there's NO rust!

I wish our damn "search" function was working as there are numerous threads on the difference between the model years. Personally, I wrote quite a bit about what the differences are.

Here's info on the '97s: http://autopedia.com/Acura/97_CL.html
