Is my transmission dieing?

Ok well ive been driving my car for about 3 months and I notice that my has been shifting a little hard. It usually shifts hard from 1st to 3rd, it only does it every once and a while, but it will shift smooth alot of the times. It is at 128,000 miles right now and I think its going to dies. Sometimes it is slipping from 1st to 2nd. I just dont want to lose my baby. help. I drive a 1998 3.0 CL

Talking 2nd Transmission Club pledge.

Start saving...

Check the level, maybe do a drain and fill with Honda ATF... Be prepared though, it won't last too much longer if it is starting to slip.

that sucks. if you have the know how, maybee you can ohm out all your tranny sensors, to make sure they are all working properly. when a sensor gets old or solenoid gets worn they work like crap when they are cold then when they get warm and expand they work as advertised.. unfortunatly so does the internals of a transmission. try changing the fluid, it may be broken down (viscosity). other than that its all a waiting game until it shifts hard when its warmed up.

Hey, you are and that sounds awesome. But I really dont have a clue on some of the things you are telling me. I remeber reading changins these things out that will like make it shift all nice I thinkt hat is what ur talking about, sensors, but I really dont know what they are. So is it dying? Or hdoes it have some life in it for a bit. I just need it to finish high school! Thanks everyone for the info. I am going to change the tranny fluid soon though, it is still very clear red though.

Sorry about the typing errors. I am cleaning up around the house.

Ya, I don't think the previous owner did. Just replaced the plugs, cap, rotor, o2 sensor, and flushed the brakes. All of them looked like they were in bad shape taking them out.

hum, I just thought of something ... it may be an electrical problem, have your battery checked out, and clean the terminals. After all, our cars are controled by computers.
