Smile My small update with pics...

Finally got the rails/brackets/side mounts on the seat.

Took out the power steering reserviour and lines (just need to reloop the rack and unbolt the power steering pump.)

As you can see, no more horn for me.

Finally got the tranny off.

This is a pic of my hood with the metal I cut off so that it can finally close all the way and stop hitting my manifold.

This is the piece I cut off (weighed 5 lbs)

So by the end of this weekend this beast should be up and running again.

I wasn't sure if I would have had the same issue with a CF hood or not. You see, the inside of the hood was banging against my intake manifold because it was literally sitting on it. So I was afraid of it cracking it and have been wanting to cut it off. If the CF hood had the same shit on it, I think I'd be scared to mess that hood up then the one I have now.

I bought the half shaft, but I havent bought the axle yet. It's an item I can get in 2 days at my local parts store for $65. So I'll just pick one of those up this week.

As for the clutch/PP. It's the oem one. This is my first time doing a clutch change by myself (i've done about 13 of them with a friend). So if I mess up, I rather it be on this setup since it was only like $330. The other setup I want is $1600. So as you can see, that's soemthing you really want to make sure you dont screw up. I'm not using the PP alingment tool that they require, so this experiment is just, well, just that. From my understanding you can go without the tool, but at a much slower rate. And I'm in no hurry.

i know this look isnt that favorable, but you should have jacked up the rear of the hood with spacers and extended bolts like i did. you wouldnt have had to cut up your hood

nice work though man, i love your car.

Yeap, rewelding it back with angle iron once i put it back on this weekend. Like I said, it was only a centimeter I needed off for it to clear. I really hope I dont have a weak spot in the frame cause of this. Roll cage should help me out though.

You should have seen how small of a piece I needed. All just to get some darn clearance. I want to reweld it back on in a different way so that I will always have the clearance I need to do this though. Going to play with the metal once everything is back in.

That was my first solution when having issues with the hood. We redid and remounted the engine/mounts to get more clearance and a better axle geometry and lower center of gravity to the point to where the hood cleared. But for some reason it didnt clear so well on the driver side and stuck up a bit and sat on my manifold. After that, I was like, fuck it, just deal with the rest and give me my car! Since it wasn't a big concern to me since it was something I could deal with on my own time. Plus, anything to get more weight off the car is a good excuse for me. Shit, I saved 5 lbs, couldnt believe it actually weighed that much.

Evo's dont come with cruise control either, so I feel sorry for my friend Mauricio. He's driving to Texas for 4 days, driving back to Cali following me, then going to follow me up to Central Cali. Then after that either back to SoCal or Vegas. We havent decided. What's really going to suck is driving across these deserts with no damn AC. I'm going to be one extremely wetback looking mofo coming into the meet.

Yes, I am one crazy bastard.

There's a thread over it in the Meet section. We're all trying to get as many people in as we can, but the price is undetermined since they dont have a full list yet of the people whom are willing to put down the mulla. If that falls through, we can find our own nice place. (I rather stay out of the ghetto since we'd be def targets, you know).

I bought 2 floor jacks that days. And the one you see is by far my favorite. Gets the whole car up in just 3-4 pulls.

Daniel, if all goes well, I'll be putting in a 10 point roll cage while I'm out in Cali. My friend just had one done, and it included the harness bar (which would mean I'll need a new harness). If I save the amount of money I plan on coming to cali with, then I'll be driving back in a caged CL. The price I got quoted out in Cali was way better than out here. I guess it's the cage before than lexon glass (opposite of what I had planned). Wish me luck on saving!
