My EXHAUST IS TOO LOUD! HELP!!!!

I recently bought a Vibrant Short ram intake, along with A DC SPORTS '98 Accord header for my '99 CL. All was fine until I went to the muffler shop and told them to hook me up with a 2 and a 1/2 inch pipe all the way through, with a high flow Catalatic Converter, which they welded to my aerospeed muffler.

Now it sounds WAY TOO LOUD!!!!! I like the deep sound/ rumble; but this high pitch cracklin stuff has got to go!! My only hope is that they can weld the resonator back on and it might quiet it down a bit.

My question to the pros is , How can I have a header with exhaust and muffler on my CL without it being so GAY-Sounding?

I frickin love this car, and want to make it tight as hell! Are there any silencers out there or REALLY good resonators? Or is it that I need a better muffler?HELP ME PLEASE!!

I really want to learn forum this cool ass forum!

99 CL, TINTED,. LOWERED, EXHAUST ,INTAKE,DC HEADERS...What else.

Ps. How can I post pics? (It says the file I'm tryin to post is to big ,must be 1byte?)

hey man you'll be fine if you put the resonator back in. I just bought a magnaflow resonator and it's really nice and quiet. The resonator really gets rid of that stupid buzzing sound that your talking about.

For the pics, go to like www.picturetrail.com and just use their trial user thying for a month. Just keep doing that and it's free! Then just paste the link of your pics, with url's on each side... http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/...0925&members=1

Thanks man... I really started worrying there for a minute! How much are the good resonators? And where could I get them at? What else do you recommend I do to increase performance?

I was thinkin about gettin the pullies along with an MDS ignition switch and fuel regulator. ANy feed back from anyone is greatly apreciated

Just go to any muffler shop and they should have resonators for sale. I got mine from MIDAS for like $65.

go for those pulleys next

NA 4 cylinders = lawnmower sounding. Add FI...it will quiet it down cause the exhaust gases will be taken up again.

yeah throw on a magnaflow resonator or any other aftermarket one... should quiet it down a bit. mine has no buzzing... except the metal plate and downpipe rattling... my fault on install... but besides that the exhaust and muffler no buzzing like those civics.

I bought the my CL with that muffler. Is it cheap? I'm thinkin about gettin a GREDDY muffler. I got a resonator on it's way... Hopefully that will shut that buzz the hell up!!! I also bought 11mm plug wires for 40$$$. Good deal huh? They sold them to me cheap because they don't make them anymore! I am saving them for my ignition switch/pullies/fuel regulator, Will have those by summer.
I will post some pics soon!

Most exhaust systems for 4-cylinder cars usually include one super humongous muffer or 2 smaller ones to quiet the car to acceptable levels.

WTF?

Do you even know what you're talking about? Less constriction is louder. Not bigger is quieter.

I was speaking generally about exhaust systems, both stock and aftermarket. What you're saying doesn't really contradict what I posted. Bigger muffler=more packing material or chambers=more constriction/less flow=quieter. However, it isn't constriction alone that determines sound, it's also the packing material in the muffler that absorbs the sound. The more of it you have, the quieter and bigger it's gonna be. However, Flowmaster uses a design that has no packing material. It's got a bunch of noise cancelling chambers in there.

Look at the size of the stock 3.0 CL exhaust setup compared to an aftermarket setup. There are 2 mufflers in it, one is a small straight through that acts like a resonator and one humongous chambered muffler in the rear. All the aftermarket setups have smaller, usually straight through mufflers.

As I was saying...its not bigger is quieter. You made it seem like dB was reliant on how big your coffee can was...which is not true.

Well, yeah, intake or exit diameter wise. But obviously the more packing material or chambers you have in a muffler, it's obviously going to be bigger.
