Is my clutch going out???
I recently noticed that my clutch seems a bit softer or easier to push in, but I am starting to feel some vibrations in it when its engaged to the floor. Also, coming out of 1st and 2nd seema bit rough where the shifter doesnt slide in as smooth as it did, not that it was that smooth to begin with. Also, I noticed that my car is idling pretty low lately and my RPMS seem to drop a lot quicker when pushing the clutch in and my Speedometer seems to be "ticking" rather than smoothly going up. Would this be the IACV problem or EGR valve?? If so, where are those located? Thanks a ton guys, this forum is priceless.
What should I be looking at as far as a replacement goes and the costs involved?

dude.. i got the same probs. is our clutches going away? seems for me that is easier to drive.. like its going away? vibrations i feel too... feels weird. and yes 1st to second is Rough. well for me it just kicks in hard. shifts into second smoothly. probably just cold tranny. just needs to warm up.
the ticking thing its normal. i think i read somewhere that lots of the cars do that. mine does!!.

I just got an exedy stage 1 clutch installed and the pedals feels allot softer than stock. Btw how much mileage is on your car? If its near 100,XXX miles its a good time to do the clutch before you get stranded on the road.

could be the clutch, but it also sounds for some reason like there could be a small leak in one of your clutch cylinders. air could be getting into the lines and not allowing the clutch to fully disengage. then again, it could just be the clutch. Does it engage a lot higher up than it used to?

My clutch lasted 196K miles woot woot Just replaced it with exedy stage 1. Is your clutch slipping? if not then your clutch shouldnt be going out. And my clutch has never made a ticking noise so dont know what that is about?

i had to replace my clutch a month after i bought it at 80k miles.....the guy at honda place said one way they test to see if the clutch is going out is if you put the car in 5th and let off the clutch while standing still...if the car stays running then its going out...obviously the car should stall in 5th

When the clutch was seeing its last leg in my CLS6, It would be hard to shift out of gear.. what i mean is that if I was in first and got it up past 3k rpm, then I would have to rip it out of gear.. getting it into the next gear was buttery smooth.

Yea thats another thing, It lets off a lot higher than it used to and I have to let it out a lot slower than I normally would. Where would I find the clutch cylinders??

I'm not to sure what a clutch slipping would feel like so i'm not sure. I have 65K on mine now but im not sure how the previous girl owner drove the car either. Sometimes putting it in 1st and getting into second is quite a bitch to say the least...same with getting int reverse sometimes.

Yea sometimes i have trouble getting into first and reverse, but would that be a clutch problem or a gear box problem? i have 171,xxx miles on my car with the original clutch mostly highway miles. it still works fine but it catches high and with a hydraulic clutch that usually means its getting to the time where it needs to be replaced.

Pretty much all hondas have trouble going into first and reverse some times. It is just the nature of the beast. as for your clutch catching high you can adjust the pedal for it to catch lower. You know if your clutch is slipping if when you floor it your rpms go up but you dont go anywhere.

i tried that yesterday...didnt notice any change as far as RPMS go, although my car hasnt been fast to begin with
How do i go about adjusting the pedal and whereabouts should I have it grab? Thanks again guys!

it does sound like your clutch is on its way out. The trouble youre having going into first and reverse isnt really related to your clutch going out I dont think, but caused by the synchros in your gearbox getting worn out. Mine is the same way, along with several other members. Theres a trick to get it into first easier if you really need to (double clutching), but its generally not necesary.
