im goin to be getting mandrel bent custom piping.Just wanted to see what muffler u guys recommend,i was lookin for a sound sumthin like comptech not to loud or deep(just right)
but they dont make comptech mufflers without the cat or axle-back. What muffler should i buy

 

I cant recomend anything from experience, but since no one else will answer, I can tell you that Magnaflows and the APEXi N1 mufflers are popular on the CL and are good

get magnaflow exhaust with custom piping. 2 1/4 if u have 2.3/2.2 and 2 1/2 if u have 3.0. N1 sounds like piece of shit. i had one befoe i got my magnaflow exhaust.

i have an HKS Hi-Power universal muffler the 2.85" outlet.....sounds great with header and custom piping.

i wouldn't really waste the extra money for mandrel bent pipes. i've seen the difference on our cars on mandrel bent and crush bent pipe and the MOSt difference the guys at the shop were able to measure was less than 1/5".... the bends on our piping are not very complex so you dont need much bending.

with the money i saved by not getting mandrel bent, i was able to afford my header...and since im not going turbo or super anytime soon.....i'm not gonna miss the mandrel bends!

 

mandrel bent pipes is for turbo or super charged cars.

 

mandrel is the only way to go, plus crinkle/crush bent looks like SHIT! Why upgrade your exhaust diameter to only add kinks at the bends which reduce size and increase back pressure BTW, it's not all about diameter size, the crinkle in the bends disrupts exhaust flow as well.
As far as mufflers, the general concencus on ACL is Magnaflow being the best universal for your buck and the needs you specified. Greddy and Tanabe also make great mufflers, however they are somewhat louder than magnaflow. Apex'i is underneath those three. I have a tanabe super hyper medallion on my 3.0 and love it to death.

yah..if u r going to turbo ur car, then go for it. i wuz juss saying if ur not gonna turbo or supercharge ur car, itz uselses.

So what is the best exhaust system for the 3.0? Not whats the best for the money, just the best period. Im looking for performance, I dont really care about the sound. Also pm me with the answer if you can thanx.

I was just searching through old threads trying to decide if I want an exhaust or not. Seems like there has been a lot of complaints about the loudness, so I decided against it. I'm glad I have these threads to read before I spend a few hundred dollars only to regret it later. I think I'ma get an electric exhaust cut-out. I don't care about performance, just want some nice sound every now and then.
