maintence required

hey guys, the maintence required thing (under speedometer) turned red awhile back....

i just wanted to make sure that this was only there to remind you to change your oil...that was what it was for in my old acura vigor....but when i put the key in the place to reset it back to green nothing happens....i want to make sure its not trying to tell me something else is wrong...i dont have the manual to the car so i have nothing to reference this problem with

thanks

If you look in your manual it tells you the different reasons the light goes off once you hit a certain mileage. But I know that there are more things than just oil that are in the scheduled maintenance.

wow you guys are both idiots. he said he doesn't have a manual to look at. Maybe you shoudl learn how to read and stop beign jackasses.

@ JORTS: yes it's pretty much just for oil and scheduled maintenance and shit, nothing to worry about, as long as you do the timing belt/water pump stuff at about 100k and the other suggested maintenances like 30k and 60k.

and you know if you get an oil change and it still doesnt turn back to green, stick your key in that hole by your speedometer.

reset it using the buttons on gauge cluster or disconnect the battery. You'll be fine.

LOL!!! he even said hte tried to use the key to reset it but it didn't work. people around here really need to work on their reading comprehension.

mine was red a little bit ago and to reset it you can just stick any key into that hole thing, but you kind of have to vary how hard you press it and how fast, just try a few times and it'll eventually reset to green.

pay no mind to that maintenance indicator
its gay
you could go 10,000 miles and it will remain green
best way to do your oil is by writing down your mileage or timing yourself

it changes a 7500mi.....

and you should NOT change your oil based on that.....thats 2 oil changes right there...

its meant to make you go to the dealer and pay for things you dont need

thanks

thanks guys...

i am going to hit 89,000 miles today or tommarrow and when i last talk to the acura dealership that said that i should bring it in for the big 90,000 tune up...

1.what all does this cover from the dealership?
i am only assuming it will cost out the ass...

2. can i get this done at a cheaper shop or should i take it to the dealership?

3. anyone outthere have had this done through the dealership before?

4. does it make a huge difference? i bought the car with 79k and all i have done to the engine is change the oil and get a new clutch....so i guess i want to get this tune up done....

what do you guys think??
